NA 2.0L round two and exterior freshen up!

Yeah it is crazy how time flies and then life gets in the way. it is crazy to see how dead/quiet the forums are now. I was in pretty much the same boat, get a little order and its not as much fun to work outside in the cold or rain as it once was, so the car has just been sitting kind of idle for the past 3 years. But I made it to Wekfest in Seattle here a few weeks ago and it really made me miss working on my car and just going out to enjoy it again. I was thinking for a while that I should do a turbo set up but then I kept thinking how much fun it was to just go out and drive and the huge smile it always seem to put on my face.

It also makes it a little more challenging to get parts with everyone being on other social media outlets but I figured it would be more appropriate to revive this thread after all these years, mainly because I want to build the car and document it with how far along it has come, and not try and seem like I am after the internet fame or approval of others.

On a side note, I contacted Lance at Hayward Performance and I will be getting a set of Jenvey ITBS to complete this set up how I have always wanted to get it done.

Hoping to move the car to the new house in the coming weeks, which I am sure will be an adventure in itself.

Haven’t seen this screen name in a while, good to hear you still have the integra and plan on working on it. I have a DA that’s been sitting since september 09 that i want to start working on again. Still have the us racing lip?

Yeah it has been a while since I have been around, and I finally got around to wanting to get the teg back together and be able to take it out and enjoy it. It’s funny how life changes but I guess enjoying cars and wanting to tinker with them has never really left me.

Yeah I still have the US Racing lip, funny enough I almost reached out to you to see if you would be interested in purchasing it but I wasn’t positive I wanted to get rid of it and then I noticed how much this site has changed and not as busy. So hopefully we can change that and get something going again. I hate how social media has taken over and there isn’t as many tech threads and it ends up with just the same questions posted or stuff that people can easily figure out if they were on a forum again.

This has been the daily as of late.

And this is out in front of the new house, you might be able to say it is an Acura household.

I don’t know how to easily post pictures so hopefully this works and I can figure this all out again, the DA is still in “storage” but I am hoping to get it moved to the new house in the next couple of weeks so I can actually get it kind of back to where I know what is actually going on with where I left it and then I can get started on some of the simpler things I want to get tied up. Like finish my chassis harness and start to make way for the ITBS that I should be able to order in the next week or so.

I would of bought it lol, glad to hear you thought of me when you were thinking of selling it. I also hate how forums are dead now, there are a few good pages on fb but mostly they are what you described lol.

I figured you would but I wasn’t 100% I wanted to get rid of it so that’s part of why I didn’t reach out haha.

So after a little debate with myself, I decided to pull the trigger and went to find a factory Acura Service Manual. Found one on Amazon, and it just came in yesterday. So excited to finally have a solid resource to be able to pull information from and get accurate detailed diagrams and not have to rely on trying to find the right page on the internet.

I love my factory service manual. Well worth the money. The Chilton’s stuff is just about useless for anything other than an engine rebuild.

I agree, I’ve been wanting one for a while just couldn’t seem to pull the trigger on it. But starting to go through the wiring and a few other things like windows I think it will be a great resource. I have a Chilton’s but it is not even close to the quality or detail of the factory manual.

Everything you need to know in there. Ive been watching this one, Great work.

Yeah that’s why I just set out to try and find one. The free internet version can only get you so far, and it is nice to have an actual hard copy that I can take out to the shop with me.

Thanks man! I am hoping I can make some actual progress on the car, there doesn’t seem to be another car that can put a smile on my face the way this one can. hoping to be able to tear into it and clean some stuff up in the next week or so and post some actual updates!

I look forward to keeping up with this thread and your build. I also know a bit of how you feel and I am glad that you stuck with the DA all this time. Mine was off the road for 11 years and it just recently started being driveable again. I have upgraded to a few other cars since the DA but once I got back into it, it brought so much joy back to me to be able to drive it again!

Good numbers you got there, I hope I can crack 200 next year when I finally get a tune on it!

Thanks man! There is just something about this car and the DA chassis that I can’t get away from. I am hoping that it will be the same when I get to drive it again, the last time I was able to it was so much fun and I had a huge smile on my face that I could not get rid of for a week. Then the transmission broke and I had to get back to the drawing board. I am very happy that I have managed to still hang on to the car.

On a slightly larger note… I ordered my Jenvey ITB kit from Hayward Performanace up in Canada, so hopefully that will show up and I will be able to start getting some work done. The past month or so has been pretty crazy trying to get the house set up and get it all ready to have a party. But now that it is all over with I should have a lot more time to be able to start tinkering with the car again!

Well after waiting for almost a month this lovely package showed up today. Now just have to figure out what else I need and to get them installed and tuned.

Had to tie up some loose ends and get the car ready to tow it to my house, and get it into the shop so i can fix and clean up some of the stuff that i kind of “half assed” and didn’t get them where they should have been. Mainly because of the fact that it was hard to get going on the car only to have to pack it all up at the end of the night and then not having to want to get it done properly. I am hopeful with the garage and the maturity i have gained over the past few years that i can get this all cleaned up and get the car to where i want it and it should have been all along. Then it is a matter of getting the ITBS set up and figuring out how to get that whole system to run! Could not be more excited!

Got some FAL Lexan for the rest quarters and the rear hatch (too difficult to actually take a picture of haha) to help lighten up the carbon hatch I have had for a long while.

Was looking at deleting my brake booster and because I pulled the trigger on the Jenveys I decided that I should look into a little further. I found a kit from Honed Development in Australia that makes a kit that looks like I will fit the bill perfectly and with the template to increase the pedal ratio it should help with how firm the pedal is and provide a much more consistent pedal feel. Finally got the car all loaded up and down to it’s new home, could not be more excited to get back to this project and get it back to the street and track. A lot of clean up to do and fixing a lot of little things I never really got completed before while trying to work on it outside in the cold and wet.

Going to need to refinish the hood eventually, it actually isn’t in that bad of shape considering it has been outside for the past two years.

The dash as I get ready to take it out to tackle the wiring that I have neglected over the years. Going to do a few custom pieces to make it more to my liking, just want to still keep the overall top of the dash looking factory.

Got the hood and the radiator out, so I can start to pull the harness and drop the motor to go through it and make sure everything still looks good.

Got the front end mostly off, took out the wiper cowling and the fuse box. Going to move that into the interior of the car to help clean up a little bit of the bay.

Got the cluster out and the ugly wiring has made an appearance! Next step is to pull the dash so I can get to the pedal assembly and all the wiring.

Not a ton of progress but at least it is a start to get it going in the right direction. I think I am going to clean things up and focus on trying to get the parts I have just sitting around actually on the car and then once it is all back together focus on cleaning up the body, shaving the sunroof, putting in the FAL lexan that I have, and eventually get to the point where I can paint it like I have been meaning to get to over the past 5 years. Pretty excited to get this all going again and be able to drive the car with the power plant I have wanted since I was 15.

Got to work on the car some this long weekend, nothing major really accomplished but got to a point where I can start trying to narrow down the wiring and get rid of a lot of the stuff that I have taken out of the car already just wasn’t able to or didn’t want to take out it all completely out by unpinning it from the proper fuse box.

Got the dash all out so I can get to the pedals and to all of the fuse boxes, and so I can actually see where I am going to route some of the other wiring in the car.

Decided since I had the intake manifold out that I would test fit the Jenvey set up to try and gauge how much room I have or need to get them all in there, surprisingly they fit pretty well without having to do anything. Although the engine being half out also helps with the clearance on the brake master cylinder and booster. I was mostly curiosity on my half to see if what I had read a long time ago was indeed the case. When I swapped to the EG brake reservoir it helped clear a decent amount when I put on the Victor X intake manifold and that still seems to be the case with the ITBS but I wont know for sure until I get the motor back to fully mounted up, although that is a ways off.
