Need help swapping gsr hydro into ls case

Hey, I’m about to buy a gsr hydro tranny and I wanted to know how to swap it into a ls case. I’ve read that you have to have a ys1 case in order for it to work, so I’m trying to find one at the moment. My ys1 has a crack in it. Anyway, I see a lot of people saying tranfer the internals, but no one really has a good writeup on it. I’ve searched tons of times about this and haven’t found a useful link yet. If someone can help please do so. Thanks

there is a writeup in the tegs tips forum section. Talks about the whole thing and has pics.

I just read it and interested in doing, but I’m trying to find more research on swapping a complete 94+ LS tranny with the hydro clutch stuff into our teg.

yeah I read the write up, but it was for the type-r tranny. I was hoping someone would clarify whether it was the same procedure for the other trannies. Plus it would be nice to know how to swap the ls fifth if possible.

instead of buying a new case, just get the hydro mounting conversion from innovative mounts www.innovativemounts.com its 199 for the tranny mount and linkage, and you can put a hydro tranny in your car and use the clutch cable to operate it

I’ve considered that as well, but that’s extra cash too. decisions decisions. I’m currently strapped for cash.

an easier way to do it

the easiest way to swap a tranny is to swap the whole thing… hasport has a kit that allows you to use your cable clutch set up… i looked into it and thats what i decided to do

for it being the same price or possibly more expensive than putting gsr internals in a ys1. i would far rather have the stock looking ys1, that you know you wont have any problems with. i ran a da with no front mount, and it was hell. i couldn’t imagine the mount being stiff enough to stop the engine from torquing during shifts.
cliffnotes: buy the gsr tranny, buy a ys1, swap internals, possibly add an lsd, and call it a day. if you want even better shifting get either a solid front tranny mount or poly insert for it and poly shifter bushings.

I always thought you had to have a short gear ys1 for this to work. I wish I knew this before I destroyed my tranny case. I’m currently looking for one if someone has one. I’ve seen someone on here do their own cable to hydro, but I can’t seem to find it again. And thanks CrAzY and white teg for the responses.
