Need help w/ prothane front UCA bushings.

I got the prothane upper/lower front control arm bushing set. The bushings on th UCA (oe, blown) pressed out fine but now I cant get the new poly ones in. Even tried cutting it in half. They seem like they might be a hair too big around. What am I doing wrong? Do I just need to grease the shit of of em and press it in? Has anyone ever had a similar problem with these?

This is my DD and its stuck up on the lift at the shop, they need to get it down and I need my car, any help would be awesome. I have a set of oem rubber bushings coming in overnight just in case but Id rather get the poly ones in…

man i cant believe that shop didnt know how to press in upper control arm bushings. its really not that hard. all you have to do is use a press, grease them up, and press them in. most importantly remember to grease the pin and the area it rides on inside the bushing. you really shouldnt have cut it in half. if you did i hope you did it in the middle and not lengthwise. i cut out my old poly uca bushings and installed the new solid uca bushings in a little under two hours, removing them from car to reinstallation, and i thought i set a record. i would have tried to get a spherical bearing uca camber kit instead of poly bushings. it will squeak in about a month. you will probably need an alignment after the installation of the bushings whether you get it or not. i hope it all goes smoothly for you, but for future reference dont go destroying new parts just to hurry the car out of the shop. if its down its down, do things right the first time. it could cost you a lot in the future. good luck!

Thanks for the reply. I went back to the garage with oe rubber bushings and comparing them side by side you could almost fit the honda ones inside of the prothane ones. I dont think I got the correct bushings in my kit. The PN is 64096, all four were the same. Anyone know if this is the correct application, or what these are supposed to be for?

i searched around and couldnt find anything with that part number. i did find this on one site, and i believe these are prothanes part numbers, not that company’s:

90-93, Ft. Upper Control Arm Bushing Kit 8-217
90-93, Ft. Control Arm Bushing Kit, Upper & Lower 8-206

i dont know what kit you bought exactly but maybe its for another honda. i think you bought the second kit there. did your lower front bushings fit fine?

Yeah, I did some looking around and they dont have a PN that matches that. That was the number molded into the bushing. The lowers fit just fine.

Turns out its the shock tower anchor on the passenger side. It was too small around to fit even the stock bushings from the dealership. Everything fits fine on the drivers side though, so I guess sometime before I got the car someone replaced the A arm with an incorrect part.

thats what i was thinking might have happened. what are you gonna do?

Right now I have the prothanes in, the shop turned them down and got everything back together, and I’m on the hunt for the correct anchor. Theres a couple junkyards nearby and I’m checking some forums. I really dont want to have to go to Acura for just that piece. It looks like you cant order just the anchor, you need an entire a arm assembly. Whatever I’m gonna do I’d like to get it done soon, I really dont want to be driving on cut up bushings for too long.
