Need help with axle

ok everyone…looks like i ran into some problems.

i just finished putting in a new clutch on my car…and took it for a road test. well… as i drove it down the street, i can hear a ‘clunk’ ‘clunk’ sound… and the car was wobbly. so i drove it back into the garage, put it on jackstands, and spun the tires by hand. right side rotates fine…although it seemed like the clunk noise was coming from that side, but the left side made that sound when i spun it, it would rotate a bit fine…then hit a bump. i dont get it… did i installed it wrong?? The car was running fine before i disassembled the axle. is it something i can fix? or do i have to go out and buy another axle. What parts do i need to buy??? i plan to go to autozone tommorrow…how much am i looking at?? thanks in advance for the help.

Make sure your intermediate shaft is bolted in. also make sure your car is in neutral when you put the axels and intermediate shaft into the transmission. Just push extra hard to make sure they all fully clip and seat into where they are supposed to.

and also…if the axle is beyond repair and needs replacing, will a non-abs axle fit into my GS model abs?? btw…my abs doesn’t work, so it shouldn’t matter whether i get the NON-abs axle right?

My used 92 LS has an ABS axle on the drivers side. It never had ABS.

abs axles fit non abs car

non abs axles fit abs car too…abs just wont function correctly

Vatozone ftw!!! I am an Autozone whore. I love the lifetime warranty. LOL

I think they are about $60 and the $50 core. But of course, you get that $50 back when you take the old one back to them.

Just make sure you slam the axle into the transmission to seat it correctly. Also make sure that the clip on the end faces up. That will make it easier to install.

Yeah…i just installed the axle this past sunday, runs great. now…back to autozone to get some spark plugs and plug wires…LIFETIME warranty. im thinking of picking up some denso spark plugs and wires…but i dont think they carry a lifetime warranty on them, i think only the cheap wires and/or plugs have lifetime warranty. if thats the case i just might get the cheap ones.

Plugs don’t carry the lifetime warranty.

Cool of they did.
