Left front caliper was locked onto roto. The outside pad on this wheel burned down to nothing while the other pad has more than half the life. I think the outside pad wore down so fast due to it being locked up but dont know. And what made this one wheel lock up? But yet my car does not seem to pull to one side? Will just buying all new front pads solve my problem or will it just happen again? Do the pistons stop working at some point and just become fully pushed out???
Sounds like the piston in the caliper is seized. Replacing the pads won’t help, they’ll just wear down as quickly. Just normal wear-and-tear and accumulation of road debris. It’s pretty common, both of my front ones did it last summer on my '93 RS.
Sounds like a seized caliper. Best to buy a new one rather than rebuilding it. BTW, if you buy a new one, might as well paint it with high-temp paint to resist rusting and make the caliper look BadA$$:D
had the same problem couple days ago. my rear left locked while i was driving. I had to replace my rotor, caliper and get a new brake pad. cost me over $250.
