i have a megan 4-2-1 header, stock cat, and tsudo catback. my car is lowered on sprint springs and tokico blues. i have a about a 1 1/2 finger gap all the way around (195/50/15 tires), and i would like to bring it down just at the tires (with full coilovers of course). the problem is, as it is my cat is about 2-3 inches off the ground. is this a common problem with DA’s? i see so many dumped DA’s and have no idea how they do it, i by no means want to tuck the tires.
I myself wouldnt know much about this but if i were to lower my car that low then maybe look into getting a universal car-sound cat that is flat/oval instead of the round type?
Not too sure but check www.car-sound.com
I would say series 941xx, 946xx (preferred) as it is round like stock though.
I myself have this but doesnt really hang low its always my resonator that always scrape or rub due to custom welding on an angle and not straight.
Sometimes it can be how the aftermarket header were bend on the downpipe part when it was made? Due to the fact that ur cat may sit lower as its not straight.
Well i thought i add in whatever idea to see if it helps. Keep us posted
Its probably a combination of your undersized tire and the low hanging exhaust. The standard size would be 195 55 15’s and this would raise your car a little bit off the ground from where you are now. I would try to modify the exhaust to sit higher using different rubber hangars or welding/changing components as needed.
If you want to dump your car, you might want to go another size larger like 195 60 15’s. The suspension will lower the car decreasing the gap. But if you run a slightly larger overall tire diameter, the car will be slightly higher off the ground even tho the wheel to fendor gap has decreased. Larger tire diameter does effect performance tho.
