not sure what forum to post this in. acuraoemparts.com put it in the exterior/body with the rest of the hatch parts. ok, the other night i went to pop my hatch with the handle and it kinda crunched, didnt think anything of it so i got my work shirt out of the back and went to work, came outside to warm the car up and noticed the hatch light was on. went out to close it, got back in and the light was still on. reached down thinking the ice scraper i have by the seat got stuck under the latch, nope, the latch was sticking up, tried to push it down but it kinda felt spongy and just popped back up, so i went home without the hatch latched, then this morning i pulled the rear interior back and pulled the latch itself out checked it all out and found the cable was pulling on it still, i undid the cable and put it back together and it latched, now im stuck using the key everytime i want to open it. the handle itself is fine too. i pulled the cover off and checked all the mechanism out and it was fine. i figure the problem is with the cable itself. does anyone know what could be the problem with it. its almost like the cable bound up inside the outer casing.
Pretty sure you did all the troubleshooting already. Have you chased the cable to see if it’s connected properly?
yeah both ends were connected right, i had to disconect the hatch end of it so i could lock the hatch. it was pulling on the lock. i think the cable is seized up in the plastic. is that possible?
yup
is there any way to fix it or do i just have to get a new cable?
bump for help please. i dont like using the key to open the hatch, it always feels like the keys gonna break in the lock
That’s what I meant when I said “chase the cable”. You should be chasing it all the way through. Don’t inspect the beginning and the end and assume it’s connected.
