need help with repairing rust holes.

well i have been searching and looking the last few months on doing body work. i know its not that bad but i want to do it clean and right. Alright i have the typical rusted quarter panels and i just need some help on finding the right metal, best welder for a fair price, and best supplies etc… so anyone’s experiences will help and im looking at getting the car professionally painted. Like i said anyone’s experience will help. thanks.

well i went to Lujacks collision repair the other day and i was estimated $4600 just to replace the rusted quarters. i think thats way overpriced.

I have the same problems. Here is what i wanted to get rid of. But after seeing it be to much work AND the possiblities of having rust reform, i have decided to get a new shell.

That price may be high, it’s tough to tell how bad your rust really is. There may be a lot more to this job than just fixing those tiny little spots you showed us.

Have you ever welded before?
Have you ever worked with bondo?
Have you ever done any body work?

If you answered “no” to any of those questions, I’d suggest you leave it to the pros. This is a big job, not a beginners job by any means. If you’re VERY talented and mechanically inclined, it might turn out pretty darn good. If you’re not, it’s going to be very sub par.

well im looking at a few different cars as of now but going to get a few more estimates tomorrow. i’ve delt with welding stuff before, but i would definantly like it to be professionally clean and done right. i think im just going to get another rust-free G2 or 92+ civic. it all depends.
