Need Help With Shock/strut Selection

Hey guys,

Im gonna get a set of Eibach Prokits (used), and I want to change out my stock shocks/struts because well my rear ones are pretty bad, so Im gonna change all 4

I was wondering what you guys use, Im thinking a route of college student, I dont need 5 way adjustables or even adjustables period. Tokico, Koni, Bilstein??? I need something cheap, and has a shortened strut(well you know what I mean) and will work well with my springs,

If you guys have any websites you could help me with, Id appreciate it, or even some semi used ones, it would help too,

Thanks,
John

tokico blue is what you want. the cheapest i found them are at http://www.importhorizon.com/tokicoblue.html for 275 shipped

up

youre in orange county? you can get kyb gr2’s for like 46 from mom n pop auto parts stores, namely bolsa auto parts, circle t, etc.

if you can scrape up a bit more for kyb agx (adjustables) for the front i think its 10x worth it imo. i think they were 79each. another 60bucks for the fronts, but ill never go back

Nothing shortened will be cheap. The only shortened strutbodies/strutrods are on Ground Controls Advanced Design and Progress coilovers without converting your suspension to a G3 setup, and that would be more than you obviously want to spend.

You can buy Koni Sports (yellows) send them back to Koni for a revavle and have them shorten the bodies and shafts… but you are talking about some MAJOR bucks there!

I got my kyb gr2’s for $180 out the door from winston tires

Koni Reds from the EF Civic will work although they are slightly shorter in the rear. They are about half the price of the yellows and are still adjustable, but you have to take them off the car to adjust them.

I was thinking of using reds along with my Neuspeed Race springs. Will the EF shocks still be too short for this setup?

Oh, I went to an AutoCross in SD this weekend at Qualcomm. There was an old guy in a green EF Si with stock suspension/brakes + Koni Reds running 99/100 flat beating out a whole mess of Miatas and a SP CRX. That’s why I want to try the Reds :stuck_out_tongue:

I HATE my Tokico Blues.
