Need help with stock fan motor (AC and Radiator)

Hey all, I am having problems keeping my integra cool. It started when the stock radiator fan died on me. So I tried to replace it using a fan motor from Autozone, but we could never find one to fit the stock mounting location and stock fan. I also tried Advance and had same results. It appears our cars used different models of radiator fan/motor assemblies.

So, I decided to pick up a pair of 12" universal cooling fans from Amazon after several reviews said they moved a ton of air. I replaced both the OEM AC fan and Radiator fan with a pair of these 12" universals, but now my car won’t stay cool with the AC running and idling. The temp will slowly creep up while idling. But, once I get rolling it comes back to its normal temps. It appears my universals are pretty weak :frowning:

Now I would like to swap my stock units back in, but I need to find the proper fan motor for my OEM radiator fan and shroud. Does anyone know the proper part numbers or where I Can get them from?

Got any pics of your fans? I’m a little surprised they aren’t cutting it and you can see the temp raise on the stock gauge. Are you sure you have the polarity correct? I’d do a quick cooling system tune up to be safe.

Here are the fans I bought on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00T3TQLKW?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00
I picked up 2 of them and they fit the radiator pretty well. I have verified the wiring polarity before I installed them and made sure they were setup in a “puller” fashion since they are behind the radiator. i do not think they are quality fans at all. heh.

As for the cooling system, I recently swapped in a long block about 30k miles ago when my original engine gave out. When I put the long block in the car, I did a complete cooling system cleaning/flush and replaced the thermostat and put brand new hoses on the entire engine (even the little ones on the intake manifold), along with a ton of other maintenance. The car was running great, and cooling without any issues until my radiator fan finally died. The fan motor had been making a noise, and it finally gave out a few weeks ago, and was the original OEM motor that had over 350k miles on it.

Well, there ya go, looks like those fans are crap - plus it’s asking a lot more with the a/c on. If the a/c wasn’t on you may be OK. Typically these slimfans are more for “race” type applications. I have a single 12" pusher slimfan on my car and it’s fine even on hot days. But I don’t have a/c and I also have a large fluidyne radiator.

I’d definitely look into getting an OEM fan or at least something of the same style as it should flow more air than that little slimfan.

+2 for Rock Auto.

Here is what you need to rebuild your fan assembly…

That should get ya going.

I just replaced my radiator fan a couple of months ago with this one from AutoZone. It’s a direct replacement for the radiator fan motor in the stock fan Shroud.

So Far so good.

i had similar issue last week. My radiator fan motor died and the needle ticked over midpoint but not to the red zone. I also had a similar issue with the motor given to me and shroud fitment when I visited autozone. I found my fan motor at Advance Auto. There are 2 sizes, one was a Denso (smaller brackets) and the other one was a Mitsuba (exact fitment) ask the sales guy for the Mitsuba. (i brought my shroud in the store to check fitment)

And while you’re at it, check/troubleshoot your thermostat, radiator cap and fan switch as well. I also did a proper coolant flush to eliminate other factors such as air bubbles or small blockage in the system. This resolved my overheating issue. Goodluck
