My 91 GS passenger window shakes like crazy, its not sealing properly at the top either. I have the door panel off right now and I’m reading through the TEG TIPS thing but I dont understand which nuts are the ones to adjust I dont see any at the bottom of the door in any hole. Thanks for any help

anyone?

whats the best way to get that broken bolt out?
my windows shaking when its down and im driving now.
Also where could I find a replacement bolt/nut
thanks

anyone?? I’m afriad its going to put stress on the rest of the door.
also its making an annoying rattling noise, I just need to know what tools I can use to remove this broken bolt. Thanks
JAY

hmm i snapped, stripped plenty of bolts already. i just use some drill bits. i use a small on to drill a little of the middle then switch to something larger back and forth. just use some common sense. u can also use those bolt extractors. i’ve seen them but they look like they would enlarge the hole so i didnt get them. if u got enough room on the bolt just use a plier and screw it off. as for your adjusting nuts, i dont know where they are. never got to work on that yet.

ok thanks a lot I’ll use a drill
what about replacement bolt, can I find these anywhere?
THANKS
jay

hmm not sure if u can find the same exact one. maybe from the dealer i cant think of anywhere else but home depot. i snapped the bolt holding the bumper like a week ago so i took the other one off and went around looking for it. went to autozone, they werent much help and not much to choose from. so i went to home depot and saw this measuring thing for bolts and nuts. found out it was 6mm so i got the same one about the same length and just add on a washer. it worked fine. also changed license plate bolts too cause they were rusted and couple of others. if u know the size already just go to home depot and get it. its cheaper too.

If you have a rotary tool, you can use a cutting disc and make the snapped bolt into a flathead screw. Turn the cutting tool sideways, cut in a SLIGHT bit (who cares if you cut the metal around it a bit)… and then use a big fat flathead screwdriver to get that thing out.

Used this trick numerous times. Especially useful for stripped screw heads too.

I just realized this bolt is different
It has a plate which it is connected to behind a portion on the door. No idea how to get it out, would this have something to do with my window only going up with the door is closed.
thanks
JAY

hmmm dont get what your saying. the bolt holds something behind the metal? got a picture?

just was playing around with some of the wires in the door
seems to be working fine
there was a cut in the boot that holds the wires in. We’re working on the bolt now.

It is used to adjust the window via the tracks it is mounted to. You don’t have to drill it out. If you remove the other 3 (1 beside it and 2 at the bottom of that track), you can take the whole track out and simply unscrew that broken bolt from behind.

I wrote a post that is somewhat similar to your problem about how to correct window alignment found here.

how do you know when its seated properly? The window won’t shake?

thanks

Yes, the window won’t shake and there will be no wind noise if the window is seated properly. It takes time to align it just right, but you’ll eventually get it with patience. Use all 8 adjusting bolts and 2 window-stop brackets to adjust the window perfectly.
