Need new tranny which one?

ok so the b18a have cable trannies while the gsr’s are hydros right? so how hard would it be to covert? also which flywheel/clutch would i use then?

just buy a b16 cable tranny. it would be a whole lot easier and help a lot too.

from what i’ve been told b16 trannies are better for all motor apps. that’s why i wanna go with the gsr tranny.

oh ok well if you are going turbo i would stick with an ls tranny in my personal opinion.

I’ve seen a bracket that lets you use a cable tranny cable for a hydro tranny. Saw it on a H deuce deuce rex. Very simple looking.

Get the clutch to match the tranny and the flywheel to match the engine. All “B” series will match.

when it comes to gearing shorter is better.
turbo or na

oh ok i never knew that, i always thought shorter gears is better for na while longer is better for turbo thats why everyone uses the b16 tranny on NA Ls setups and the LS tranny on turbo ls setups…

turbo or na

to lay it all out the G2 integra’s were all cable tranny’s
the best tranny for NA it the YS1 good luck finding one
for turbo you want the taller gears (you would be shifting a whole lot more with a YS1 w/ turbo, gears are tooooo short for an application like that do you wanna have a built turbo car cuising at 4700 rpm while going 80 on the freeway?)
LS tranny with turbo
YS1 tranny with N/A

hydro tranny’s are the best

It’s true they are the best and with hasports new cable to hydro converter you can use any hydro tranny even the coveted type-r tranny with a factory limited slip differential. The shift smoother and will last longer with out the horrible 3rd gear syncro grind, icchhhhh! but whoevere said all g2’s use cable trannies is absolutely right. The jdm y1 and ys1 has an optional lsd included which a good amount had in them but finding them is a bitch oh yes. The usdm ys1 is actually an ls tranny installed on the 92-93 teg’s stock. If you really wanted short gears I would go with a usdm b17 tranny if you could find one or a jdm j1 or s1 tranny. for taller gears go with the stock ls tranny it winds out the gears the most but takes the longest to do it unless you are running turbo.

I just put in a y1 w/lsd in my DA and it pulls nicely…I just got an exedy clutch and ACT Prolite fly put in too…I love the gains!
