right now ive got a basically stock lsvtec. gonna go back to stock b18. i noticed my injectors are damaged and need to be replaced. my question is which injectors can i use. ive searched but not yet found my answer. i know stock is 210cc but since new replacements are pricey would RC 270cc ones work using a stock pr4 ecu. no mods other than aem intake (non cold air)
What’s wrong w/ your injectors? They don’t fail very often. Stock is ~240cc not 210cc. All b series injectors flow the same, so as long as you get the right style (90-91 is different from 92+) you’re good to go. And actually, it’s a funny coincidence, but I spent this afternoon clearing out my garage and going thru spare parts and actually have 11 spare OBD1 injectors - the type you’d need for your 92. I’m gonna try to get a for sale post up sometime this evening. I haven’t settled on price yet but they’ll be dirt cheap.
replied but guess it didnt post. said the reason to replace my injectors is the buttoms that sit in the intake manifold, the plastic around them was cracked or broken. they seem broken to me. im basically dumping too much fuel and my car has been acting up. i was thinking fuel pump but now thinking this might help.
Are you talking about the pintle caps? You don’t need to replace the injectors if those are broken, the injector should work normally w/ that pintle cap cracked. I’m not sure how a severely affect the injector, but it’s normal for them to be cracked by this age and still work fine. I’ve used dozens of injectors which have cracked pintle caps.
yes the pintle caps are cracked. well then i would need to look into it further. basically the engine will act as if it has fuel being cut off to it. under any temperature of operation - i could be driving at 50mph steady throttle and then the engine will pause (best description) if i accelerate it will wake back up but harshly. other symptom is it will pause wake up, pause wake up while holding steady throttle on its own. sorry thats the best way i can describe it. thanks again
the 90-91 are OBD1. 92-93 are OBD2. im pretty sure the injector plug types are different[/QUOTE]
This is incorrect, I have no idea where you found that info, but it’s horribly wrong. 88-91 vehicles are OBD0, 92-95 are OBD1, and 92-? are OBD2 (I’ll leave off the end date here as I’m not too familiar w/ the different versions of diagnostic systems on the newer cars and don’t want to post the wrong info, but it goes until at least 2001 - either way it doesn’t matter in this situation). Additionally, OBD has nothing to do with the injectors.
First of all, 90-91 Integras are OBD0 or Non-OBD, while 92-93 Integras are OBD1. Second, the diagnostics system for the car (OBD) has nothing to do with the type of injectors. In this case there is correlation, but not causation. 90-91 and 92-93 Integras have different types of injectors, but it is not that required that that type of injector be used for that OBD. 90-91 Integras use “Peak Hold” type injectors that require an injector resistor box. 92-93 Integras use “Saturated” type injectors which do not require the resistor box. Both types flow the same and look almost identical, and either type may be used in any G2 as long as the wiring is correct and you’re using the resistor box if needed.
As for your “pause, wake up” problem, that could be a variety of things. What has led you to believe it’s injectors? Did you simply see the cracked pintle caps and assume that may be the problem? How cracked are they, do you have any pics? Your problem sounds much more like an ignition or mechanical timing problem to me, but that’s just my first guess based of that description, this sorta stuff is really hard to figure out w/o actually driving the car.
you are 100% correct, my appologies for inaccurate info.
my engine has had and has its share of issues, the injectors were something i noticed just recently solely based on how the change in temperature effected how it ran. ive done a leak down test and compression test. all checked out ok so im just trying to track it down. again thanks for the help
