Need some expert help to identify exactly wat these 2 parts are intake manifold & ECU

Title says it all. I bought this car off a dealer and the guy that owned it before they bought it off him is the one that did all the mods and stuff, but he’s impossible to get a hold of for me to ask him myself. Lately I’ve been having some problems with hunting idle… and running rich. Anyways in order to help me get these problems fixed I need to know exactly what intake manifold and ECU these are so I know what I’m dealing with here… The engine is a JDM 89-91 B16A as far as I know, tranny is a JDM S1. Here are the pics.

According to my research on the barcode on the ECU it says P08 which is supposed to mean its from a 92-95 OBD-1 Civic D15 JDM. But how would that ECU ever work with my B16A? I don’t have any check engine lights and I know it does work because I’ve gotten them for VTEC wire getting knocked out before and my VSS falling out before. So I don’t know I’m really confused. Would they have swapped the board that was inside the case of the ECU? I can’t see my B16A running as smoothly as it does with a D15 board, other than the running rich stuff… but its also chipped so I don’t know.

Thanks guys. If you need any more pics let me know.

That is the stock 1st Generation B16A intake manifold.

The ECU is a D-series ECU chipped to run DOHC VTEC.

Your car more than likely runs rich because of the fuel maps of the reprogrammed ECU on your stock engine. Locate a Pre-OBD (OBD0) PR3 or PW0 ECU and your car should run perfectly fine. Either that, or get an air/fuel ratio tuning device and get the optimum ratio with the chipped ECU.

Good luck

kNOwLedGe420, thank you SO MUCH. That helps me out a lot. I just have a few more questions. It’s about the vacuum lines… yay vacuum line adventure.

I need a little help to figure out as to which vacuum lines I actually do need to hook up since its a B16A.

In the intake manifold picture #1 [ http://home.mountaincable.net/~jameslin/RandomStuff/IntakeManifoldFun1.jpg ] you can see that i have the top vacuum line off the EGR valve and the line of my dashpot going into a y-connector which then goes into my cold air intake. Is that correct? Its the only small hookup I had on my CAI so thats why I used a y-connector.

In the intake manifold picture #8 [ http://home.mountaincable.net/~jameslin/RandomStuff/IntakeManifoldFun8.jpg ] you can see that i have the line off the throttle body and the top line off the charcol canister going into a y-connector and then that going into the vacuum rail, is this correct? (the other line off the charcol canister is the red braided line thats going to the other slot on the throttle body you can also see. and the other line on the canister is going into the firewall.

In the intake manifold picture #4 [ http://home.mountaincable.net/~jameslin/RandomStuff/IntakeManifoldFun4.jpg ] you can see that i have the two side vacuum lines off the two selonoids by the firewall going to a t-connector and then being plugged into the back curved part of the vacuum rail. Is this correct?

In the intake manifold picture #7 [ http://home.mountaincable.net/~jameslin/RandomStuff/IntakeManifoldFun7.jpg ] you can see that i have the two bottom vacuum lines off the two selonoids going to a y-connector and then into the slot on the back of the intake manifold. Is this correct?

I know its a lot of typing and I’m sorry but before my vacuum lines weren’t even close to being hooked up properly cuz whoever the guy before me paid to do this engine swap didn’t hook them up right at all. So i’ve been gathering several different diagrams and none of them exactly matched what i had so i improvised to get it as correct as i could. I think its all correct right now, but i’ve heard that the B16A doesn’t need some of these parts to be hooked up. So if this is true could someone please explain to me what i can remove and how to hook up the hoses after its gone.

Thanks again kNOwLedGe420, we should clone you so we can get more of you on these forums

just looking for some confirmation on my last post… how do you guys have your 1st gen b16a’s vacuum lines hooked up if you don’t have any idle problems. compare that to my pictures.

guys if you have a 1st gen b16a swapped into your 90-93 integra could you please look at my last post with the 4 picture links in it and confirm with me that, that is how they should be hooked up. if there are any differences please let me know. i have them hooked up how they are in the pictures right now and i’m still having idle problems. so if you don’t have any idle problems please help me out here, let me know of any changes i should make… if any.
