Need some suggestions on amp set up.

Hey everybody.

So I got a HELL of a deal today. I bought a high quality speaker box with two “Dual” 12"s in it. It has the hook up so that you can hook it up to your ground I think it was? (dont quote me on that.) and a Neon light will flash when the bass hits. Anyway, I guess I’ll get to the point. I got this set up for $50 and like I said, I think I got a hell of a deal… It didnt come with an amp. I knew this when I first started inquiring about it. I was fine with that and decided I’ll just go buy a brand new amp from a local car audio place here. But getting to my point… I dont know what the enclosure is made of, I want to say some really good high quality plastic or something similar. I know that if I try to screw and secure the amp to the side of this set up like I did with my wooden Kicker box with two 10’s, It will crack and break way to easily. So I dont even plan on thinking of doing that. Im not quite sure what amp I will be going with yet. But im wondering… Would it be easier for me to build a smaller seperate box to put my amp in and just set it next the speakerbox in the trunk? I guess I just want to keep the set up looking clean and not have my amp just sitting off to the side by itself looking like a sore thumb.

honestly i wouldnt have paid $50 for the “dual” lighted box…but hey if it makes u happy rock with it, i always mount my amps to the back of the seats with a long lead wire to the box so i can take the box out and the amp isnt in the way.

How would I go about trying to mount an amp to the back of my seats?

i usually lay the seats down, and run all the wire properly under the carpet and itll pop up under the seat, pull some of it up on the end where it closes with velcro and pass the cables into the back of the seat, then cut a small x and pass the wires threw where u want them at, then just lay down amp with the wires running under it for a clean install with hidden wires and drill the screws in on each corner of the amp

Thank you for the tip. I’ll keep that in mind when I go to do install.

I actually went and gave the speaker box a good look today. I dont know why I thought the box was made of a hard plastic material. Its actually carpeted wood like my last box. As long as Im mindful of where I attached the amp on the box, I can just go ahead and attach the amp to the box, Cant I?

yea u can attach it to the box, but i like the seat mounted amp that way if u need to lay down the seats and but some big shit in the trunk just have to disconnect the box instead of all the amp wires…

so you bought a used crappy dual walmart box for 50 bucks, sounds like you got ripped off to me

yea thats why i said he didnt get a good deal…thats a terrible deal
