need to "hotwire" my integra

well…this kinda sucks.
basically my keys got stolen somewhere/somehow. then someone tried to steal my car apparently. only thing is, they didn’t count on a very custom wiring job, not to mention 3 hidden switches which control necessary things to start my car.

anyway…i have no keys for my car now. and i don’t want to pay $150 for some jackass locksmith to attempt to make a new one.

what i’m gonna do is, buy a whole new ignition cylinder and key. from a junkyard.

but in the mean time i still need to drive my car. so basically i just want to get an idea how easy it would be to hot wire.
i was thinking of just pulling the ignition cylinder out, then crossing the yellow/black wire to the red wire.
am i correct in thinking this is all i have to do?? thanx

LOL, i had this same problem not to long ago, when my ignition switch took a dump.

alright, to do this you need access to three thick wires. constant ignition and the starter.

all you do is strip free some of the constant wire which is the thick white one under the steering column, when you want to start the car, wrap the black/yellow (ignition) onto the white wire somewhat securely. after a few seconds take the starter wire (black/white) and touch to the white as well, this will crank the car over, as soon as it starts remove the starter wire and secure it to the side as so it isn’t dangling all over. if your starter wire is cut make sure you get the side going to the car.

when you want to shut the car off, simply remove the ignition wire. I stress to use caution though with all the bare wires as there is alot of metal there to cause a disaster, good luck.

thanks dude!

i gotta try that someday =) does it work for all hondas and acuras??

works for most cars without transponders or vats or pats or any other bs factory key security systems. most honda/acuras up to 98. with variations in the wires, not the healthiest thing on earth for your car, but it will work as a temporary solution.

I think you guys should’ve used e-mail for this, instead of telling the entire world how to steal our cars…

What about the streering lock?

If there are no issues with the steering lock then you could just unscrew the ignition plug harness from the back of the ignition cylinder (two small phillips screws).

Then you will be holding the plug that used to be connected to the back of the ignition cylinder and inside of that is a device that you can turn, starting the car, no need for a key, no need to hack your ignition, but the steering lock is still enabled.

oh, and the entire world already knows how to steal these cars there are no big secrets going out here

REALLY! why do you think acura integra’s and honda civic’s are the most often stolen cars in the US?

well, that is why i take security seriously, if some one wants my car bad enough they will get it, but i will do everything i can to make it difficult, such as removing lock rods and disabling cable releases and relocating key components. if some one can honestly break in my car and drive it away then props to them, but be realistic and realize that it isn’t done like that in today’s world, now if they want your car a flat bed or tow truck does the trick.

Starkfu, you sound like an electronics installer. I spent a few years doing the same and what you just posted is the simple truth.

A dumb kid out for a joyride or a head unit will never hot wire a car, there are much easier ways.

Someone who knows what they are doing is gonna get your car, if you can put it in, what makes you think someone else can’t take it out. All you can hope to do is slow them down and nothing will slow down a tow truck.

We haven’t let out the recipe for the secret sauce here or anything. Just because someone who didn’t know this before knows it now doesn’t mean they are gonna go steal a car.

i agree, fully. i also fear greatly that day when it may happen, you know, come outside and broken glass lays where your car used to be… (sigh) but yes, i plan to slow them as much as possible!!!

oh yes, i am an installer, 5 years and counting.

Why are u gonna how wire it and use it like that. Just get a friend to take you to the dealership, take your pink slip and they will cut you a new key for like 12 bucks!!

his keys got stolen, so he is going to do is buy anew ignition cylinder (which will uses a different key) so this is just temporary for him…

replacing ignition key lock

whatsup people i need help,

i think my son just threw my only set of keys for my 90 teg in the garbage, i need to get new keys or new lock , can i just go to any acura dealership and get new keys cut ? how do i go about this, thanks people

Just go to the Acura dealership (not Honda, they don’t stock Acura blank keys), and bring in your registration for the car. I think you have to show them ID so they know you own the car, too. They’ll use the VIN # to cut you a new key. When I got a new key for my '93 civic, it was only $5. I thought it was pretty cool that they didn’t need to use my old key to duplicate from.

i lost my keys before…but i just took off my lock from my glove box and took it to a lock smith there is a code on the lock…and they cut you a new one for like 10 bucks…thats what i did at least

ya just take your VIN# and registration and some ID to a dealer, they will look up your car and cut you a new key in like 5minutes, cheap.

streetracer007, I know this is an old post but if you need to re key I have an entire Integra key set with lock cylinders( ignition, door locks, glove box lock and trunk lock). I’m also in WPB. I was planning on selling them on Ebay , but if you need them I can save them for you. $35.00

send me an email jeff.collins@volvo.com

i leave my key on my seat with the doors open. nobody has stolen my car yet :stuck_out_tongue:
