Need to replace a pipe, what about using an eBay one?

So I don’t really want a loud exhaust so I’d like to keep my stock muffler, but the resonator pipe that is aft of the catalytic converter has rust holes in it. I can drop $100 on an aftermarket part from Walker or Bosal (just for that mid pipe only), but then I was wondering about using the piping that comes with those eBay exhaust kits. Has anyone used the piping off that ? Is this just a stupid idea because it is uncertain as to how eBay pipes will fit to stock exhaust systems (i.e. CAT [==] eBay pipe [==] stock pipe + muffler) ?

Neil, I’d assume that one of those off ebay won’t fit right out of the box and will need to be modified. When they design those kits they don’t have any incentive to use the same flange location or design as your OEM system. It might work, but I’d assume you’d need to pay a muffler shop to make it fit right. I’d get some sort of OE replacement or even just have a muffler shop weld something up for you.

I have a mid pipe from Acura that was on my 91 new with no rust I can get out and take pics if you want

Ah okay thanks Colin.

Brent, sure. I’d appreciate that.

do you still have this mid pipe?

I do still have the mid pipe

Yay recycling!
