Need to shave Eagle Rods wtih PCT's???

Was wondering if I needed to shave Eagle H-beam rods when using PCT pistons in my B18A? I know I must for OEM rods but was wondering if the Eagle rods are any different. Since they are hardened, would if be more difficult to shave/balance?

Any shavers out there???

if they are the exact same dimensions as the stock rods (which i would imagine they are) then yeah, they’ll have to be shaved.

the top of the rod where the piston slides on is about 2mm wider on b18a/b, b16a, b17a rods. the b18c (all of them) and the b16b rods are a little skinnier at the top.

and it makes sense that if the rods didn’t need to be shaved that they wouldn’t fit your stock b18a pistons right?

Thanks for the reply.

So… has anyone shaved their rods? (not to be taken literally but physically).

Can you do it yourself or must it be done by a qualified “pro”? What do you need to do it. Just a dremel? Do you have to shave an equal amount (weight) off each side of each rod to keep it balanced or is weight balancing against the other 3 rods sufficient.

i would highly suggest you have a machine shop do it as they are equipped with the right tools and knowledge to shave your eagle rods.
