This is my first post. We are building a 91 Teg for the West Coast Honda CHallenge in H4. www.hondachallenge.com We just started it and are way behind. I will be doing a complete build up on this site. So far we have pulled the B16 out (swap) and have a stock B18 to go back in. We have www.omnipowerusa.com coilovers (freebie) as well as www.energysuspension.com bushing kit and www.prothane.com motor mount inserts. We als got a www.kaazusa.com limited slip. We spent one night and 40 pounds of dry ice to remove the all the sound deadening. We have the points for the cage to attach to all boxed in and will be welding in the main hoop tonight. I will keep posting pics of the build up.
Awesome. I thought this would be a drag car thread. Make sure to keep us posted on the progress. What is your racing experience? Also, last year’s WC H4 champ is on this site from time to time.
hey, im right across the bridge in Benicia! [i put vallejo because nobody knows what the heck benicia is] But if you guys need an extra helping hand, let me know, I’d love to see this work in progress. I’m working on building my car towards gymkhana type racing.
nice …i need to find a place where im from to get dry ice to finish removing the tar …the front is being a bitch …im on the process of building my DA also …i plan on going with the omnipowers too but the drag coilovers though …
Hey I am the other owner of this car. Hopefully we will have the car completed by April. As for your question on dry ice, you can get it at many grocery stores or at Baskin Robbins. Make sure to let it sit for like 20 min. Break it up with a hammer and turn it into powder and spread it all around. Be generous with it, we used about 45lbs of dry ice. Also make sure to use gloves, this stuff can get pretty damn cold. You will have a hard time getting out the front because Honda is messy in their application of silicone. Good Luck
cool …ill have to go and check out my baskin robins for it …and about the silcone its also the ridges in the floor that make it a pain …do you have any idea what your Da weighs in at now or what you are aiming for ?
The rules say we have to be 2450 with the driver so that is our target weight. I think we can get close to that.
As far as the dry ice goes, it is real easy to get off once it freezes. Just take a screw driver and a hammer and it comes right off. The rear was REAL easy it came off in one full sheet. It was real awesome because on my other car I used a air chisel to get it off and it took almost 2 days.
you’ll def. get to that weight …yea i didnt use dry ice for the rear i just used a hammer and a chisel on a cold day lol …came off pretty easy though …in big chunks …
hey g2racer88, i also plan on running the honda challenge H4 but i dont have my license but hopefully within the next year i will. Im on the east coast though. Do you have any suggestions for me to prepping my car, like motor work. Im pretty much running the same suspension mods as you minus the coilovers (i have ground controls with tokicos) but dont really know where to start with the motor. Do you if you can use a crate motor for H4?
Jeff (G2racer88) is out of town this week so he might not be able to answer your question, I can probably help though. You can use any B18A out of a 90-93 DA, it can be from a junk yard, a crate motor or a complete rebuild. You should go to hondachallenge.com and check out the rules. That’ll give you a better idea of where to get started. My suggestion is to save your money and buy quality parts. Let me know if have anymore questions. Good luck, I hear ECHC is pretty fast and competitive.
I just finished mine last summer, I hope to come run with you guys in August maybe at Infineon. My Car
You’ll have no trouble making minumum weight which is actually 2480lbs. My car easily makes it and I still have a power window on the passenger side. That sound deadening in the front of the car is a real PITA to remove. The most time consuming and annoying thing I’ve done to the car.
hey H4DA what do you suggest for a good brake setup? Right now im just running some ceramic pads, but they are eating up my rotors. Im gonna go with stainless braided lines but what pads do you recommend and are slotted rotors allowed? Thanks
You can use any brake pads and rotors as long as the are for a DA Integra. I would recomend using a stock rotor as opposed to a cross drilled or slotted one. Road race compound brake pads are pretty agressive and will wear out rotors quickly. I am using Hawk Blues, but you can use Cobalt Friction, Porterfield or any other brake brake pad you want.
Car is coming along. We got the old B16 out and are building the B18 now. The cage is just about done. i am going to get the seat and steering wheel tomorrow. We are going to drop off the tranny and have it built next week. The car should get the interior painted next week. There is no way we are going to get the car ready for the first race, but we will have it perfect for the second race in Buttonwillow, CA in April. Hopefully H4DA will post some new pics today.
I will be posting pics of the car tonight. It is definitly coming along nicely. Mr. Frost, you should come out and drive with us at Sears. I would love to see another DA in the series. There are quite a few H4 cars that are being built in Nor Cal right now. By August, hopefully there should be a fairly large field.
