Hi, this is my first post on the boards. I have lurked on these forums for a while. I love all types of cars and have owned and built a few domestics and VWs. About a year ago I dove head first into the Honda world when I traded my 1972 Chevy Nova for a '90 Accord Coupe with an H22 swap. Being your typical Chevy guy, I always hated on Hondas even though I had never owned or even driven one. The Accord really grew on me. I liked it so much that I ended up buying another Honda- a very clean 91 Integra RS for my next project. I never even drove the car before I started ripping it apart. I started out with wheels and suspension. 15" Work Emotion CR Kai wheels, Skunk2 lowering springs and sport shocks, lower control arms, camber and toe links. Also got some EBC slotted rotors and green stuff pads. I always wondered what it would be like to drive a car from the right side, so I bought a DA6 half cut from hmo. I plan on doing the RHD conversion over the winter. The car currently sits in my garage, completely stripped out. I haven’t decided on what motor to go with, but the 140hp b18 isn’t going to cut it. I have 3 different motors in my garage to choose from, a K24A4, an H22A4, or a B18C1. Which one should I build? Lots of great info on this site, I’m sure I’ll have tons of questions with this project. Heres a pic of the car-
If i were to start a build at this moment, I’d def go K. I’ll eventually go K, I just want to enjoy my set up (b18c1 turbo)for one last season before I move on
I was thinking the same thing, but the only problem is that the K24 I have is an A4 from an Accord. Its the 160 hp version with no VTEC on the exhaust. K swaps are expensive and seems like for the money its not the best K engine to swap in. I’ve heard of taking a K20A head and building a Frankenstein motor, but that needs new pistons to work. If I did go with a K swap, would I be better off selling this A4 and finding an A2, or just build the Frankenstein motor? I would like to boost it too, but not to the point of needing sleeves. My goal is 400-500HP on pump gas. I don’t do any road racing, but there is a drag strip less than 2 miles from where I live.
That’s awesome. Not a car transition you hear about very often, going from a muscle car to an import. My younger brother has a sweet 1968 Nova SS. It could blow the doors off any of my Japanese rides. Best of luck with your build! Welcome to the forums.
Consider this, if you swap a k24a4 and put everything all together, it will still be a better performer than a b18c1 because of the torque. Also, K engines are relatively cheap compared to the Bseries vtec engines, because getting a Kswap is half the battle. IMO the k24a2 is the engine to get because of the torque and hp potential.
Don’t get me wrong, I still love my Chevys. I still have a 72 Monte Carlo that I wouldn’t trade for anything. I put tons of work into it. It’s a small tire pro-street car. Big block on nitrous,12 point cage, fuel cell, the whole bit. It will pass everything but the gas station. If you want to check it out, it’s on Youtube @ CrazyCarDude1320. My Nova was a 6 cylinder car and needed a lot of body work so I decided to let her go. These imports are a totally different kind of ride. They might not have the sheer power that the old muscle cars have, but they definitely feel more refined. There’s no single car that can do everything, it’s good to have some experience with a wide variety.

Thanks for the advice. This is probably the route that I will go. I’m right in the middle of the RHD conversion, so I have some time to think about which motor to swap in.
