Hey everyone, new here but not to the Honda scene (building cars since '02). Recently acquired a '90 sedan for road racing. Was not the chassis I had originally planned on using, but I could not pass it up… it is very clean for the year and a SOLID foundation to turn into an even better track car. Loving the g2 so far, will be around for tips/advice.
Welcome and good luck with the car! Looking forward to seeing some updates. There needs to be more purpose built cars on the boards. This should make for a great track car. Let us know your plans, gutted? Roll cage? Suspension? Brakes?
I think someone had posted this car on the FS section. it has suspension work done i know that. but a roll cage would be dope.
What wheels are those? I like them
Welcome! Glad to see another performance oriented member join up :excite:
welcome…
why a 4 door over a 2?
Very possible that it was posted up on here, but I found it on CL. As far as suspension/steering, the previous owner took care of most of the work. I will be doing a basic refresh of wear items, adding a rear subframe brace, but that is about it. I have a b18c1 bottom end, plan on sourcing a b16 head for it to give her a little more power over the current b20. As far as the pictured wheels go, I’m not sure what they are, I ended up buying the car on Rotas with crappy tires to lower the price a bit. It is already mostly gutted, but the HVAC system will be going this weekend, along with a few other odds and ends. Current mods:
JDM B20B (Honda CR-V) - 146hp version
B16 transmission internals w/ LS 5th gear swap
MFactory LSD
Integra Type R front brake calipers/ redrilled Prelude VTEC rotors with Cobalt XR3 race pads
PIC Coilovers
19mm rear sway bar
Aftermarket front crossmember/traction bar
Rage PRO header
Custom 2.5" exhaust
Some sort of cold air intake
Koyo aluminum double-thick radiator
B&M short throw shifter+blox weighted knob
Walbro 255lph fuel pump
Braille lightweight battery
Exedy lightweight flywheel
JDM one-piece headlights
Needless to say, the drive home yesterday was a fun one! The P/O graciously gave me a literal ton of spare parts, many brand new as well… should be a fun summer.
Why a sedan over hatch? First and foremost, this chassis is CLEAN. The price I got it for was amazing, and I fit in sedans a bit better. If I had back seats, I’d pull out the “fo doors fo mo ho’s”, lol
I think it’s awesome that it’s 4 door. I’ve seen track oriented sedans but it’s a rare sight, good luck with it man it’s a great starting point.
Thanks!
clean db1, very nice pick up.

Very clean looking DB1. I wish mine was that clean, maybe one day. I have a B20B in mine also and it is the high comp model. I have another B20B block that needs to be resleeved and the stock B18 that I spun a bearing in laying around. I want to build one of them with a b16 head and boost in the future.
Thanks. Talking to a few reputable welders/fabricators this coming week about building me a cage. Stay tuned…
