hay everyone, just got back a da teggy…1990 ls coupe. straight factory it was grandpa owned. where to start with cleaning it up. only issue I have right now coolin fan will not come on. will post pics

Fix the problems then go from there

Regular maintenance and fix existing issues…

Ball joints, suspension bushings, tires, basic tune up etc. Make it a solid car before trying to modify it.

Check all your fuses, first thing I did when I bought my car. Replace all of them than turn on the car use all the functions, than check the spot where the fuse was bad again. Might have a short who knows

Thanks for input…car basically clean and was well maintained…fuse were checked and all good
Thinking its the relay for the cooling fan…is this a normal problem?

It could be a fuse or the coolant temp sensor in the radiator. Do the fans work with the AC on? It could be the fan motor itself. I have had that happen a couple of times. You can apply 12v right to the fan to check its operation.

I checker the fan motor and it works…AC fan comes on…I really think its the relay…will change relays and preposterous results

Yes! Agreed

bypass the coolant fan switch that’s located in the back of the block. Near the oil pressure sending unit and oil filter. Unplug the two wires and put a jumper wire between the two wires, turn on your switch to ON position and see if the fan goes ON. If it does, then your fan switch is bad and needs replacing. If the fan doesn’t turn on, then check the relay. If you don’t understand how the relay is wired then simply switch the relay with another one that you know is in working condition.
After you have determine what’s the problem, simply take off the jumper cable and connect the fan switch back how it was (assuming that wasn’t the problem.)
