do you think that the 15 inch rims whith 195.60.r15 would be ok with 102,000 mile suspension or should i just keep the 14 in stock rims and just get a new suspension system. If a new suspension system is the suggested rout then which one should i get. P.S. i am on a tight budget so please be generous… im not going for the gone in 60 seconds gt500 kit or the ricer move stuff… even though that **** rox!
I suggest 195-55-15 for 15 inch rims… 60s look a little big. If you are going to replace the suspension, i would go with a .75 inch drop from neuspeed or H&R springs w/ KYB struts. The struts also come in adjustable but they cost a little more. If you dont replace the struts your OEMs will wear out quicker because they were not made with lowering in mind. try groupbuycenter.com for the best deals… no camber kit should be needed for a .75 inch drop. It will just tighten the gap up as well as your ride quality. Hope this helps… rims/suspension are the next thing i want to do to my teg, sometime soon…
yeah, 195-60-15’s are gonna be way too big. 195-55-15’s are even a bit taller than stock. Unfortunately if you get 15" rims you have to choose between 195-55’s and 205-50’s. One slightly larger and one slightly smaller than stock…but 15’s are sweet…so that makes up for it, hehe.
your stock suspension doesn’t matter. putting different rims/tires on there isn’t going to put too much extra strain on the suspension.
but personally i’d rather spend $$ on suspension than on rims/tires. I’ll take better handling over looks anyday! (although, if you get good tires w/ your new rims you will help handling out quite a bit).
Suspension ain’t cheap. I’d recommend finding some used springs or coilovers for cheap. Springs can be found for $40-$100 depending on brand. Coilovers can be found for $100-$200 depending on brand. I’d buy the shocks new, unless you find some used ones for a good deal that are almost new. Some good brands are H&R, Neuspeed, Eibach, Suspension Techniques, Skunk2, Weapon R, Ground Control… for shocks KYB, Tokico, and Koni.
As for which setup would best suit you…that all depends on what you need and what you like. Do some searching around to see what others have posted about their setups.
