No, 17s are not perfect for g2s. Do you understand plus sizing tires? When you gain an inch in rims, you are supposed to subtract that from the tire sidewall so you don’t throw off all of your gauges and your braking.
An inch pretty much equals out to 10mm, so if you take the stock size - 195/60 14…and you put a 15" rim on, your tires should be 195 or 205/50…you usually add to the width to make up for the loss in the sidewall.
But whatever. I would never go over 16" because at that point you’re at 40mm tires which are thin as hell. My last 2 sets were 16s and this summer I ordered 15s.
i’m not normally one to rip on somebody’s post but, that’s the worst explanation i’ve ever read…
“plus sizing” - refers to increasing wheel diameter, while decreasing the aspect ratio of the sidewall to remain as close as possible to the overall diameter of the stock tire.
10mm=1 inch… wrong. 25mm=1inch
quick lesson… take a 205/40R17
205= section width in millimeters. measured across the widest part of the sidewall on a properly inflated and loaded tire
40= aspect ratio. sidewall height expressed as the percentage of the section width. i.e. 40% of 205= 82mm tall sidewall
R= radial constuction
17= wheel diameter
195/60R14= 23.2" overall diameter
195/45R15= 21.9" overall diameter
195/50R15= 22.7" overall diameter
205/50R15= 23.1" overall diameter
205/40R16= 22.5" overall diameter
205/40R17= 23.5" overall diameter
out of all the “common” aftermarket tire sizes, the 205/40R17 is the closest to the stock diameter after the 205/50R15
“No, 17s are not perfect for g2s” - that’s all a matter of opinion. i have 17s on my DA and think they look fine.
like i said, not really trying to rip on you, just wanted to make sure the correct info is being given. and please stop trying to push personal opinion as fact.
