hello i just installed new rotors and pads on my 92 da had brakes before i installed new gear now i have no brakes pedal goes right to the floor and my e brake dosent even work anyone know whats goin on with that ?
Did u bleed ur brakes after u were done?
i never loostened any bleeder screws so i shouldnt need to bleed anything
Im assuming you did rear brakes? go check your master cylinder and see if it has fluid. did you happen to snag or rip a hole in the brake lines?
master cylinder is full i havent seen any evidence of leaks and yes i did both front and back
Did you push the caliper pistons back too far? Possible you finished off the seal in the master cyl when you pushed the pedal to the floor. It wouldn’t leak but the pedal would slowly go to the floor.
that was my first thought that maybe i pushed the piston in too far how would i tell if the master cylinder is fucked or not ?
Hm…ebrake doesn’t work either? That’s suspiciously strange… since the e brake is on a totally different system. Did you remember to bed your brakes? lol. Check your pistons to make sure the seals aren’t toasted for whatever reason. You’ll notice fluid around them if they’re done. Importantly: How were your brakes before this happened? If they were fine, then we can only presume that you did made a simple error during the install.
If you didn’t open and bleeders and you see nothing leaking, I fell like there is missing info. i can’t see the piston being the issue. Cause let’s be honest, who pushes it further back than flush with the caliper? There would be no reason to, nor do I even think you can.
Brakes are not complicated and unless you disconnected the ebrake line from the caliper, there is no way in hell that could stop working or be connected in and way to the rest of the brakes.
It would be one freak event if your master suddenly crapped out after a brake job when you didn’t even touch it.
Try to bleed the system first regardless and see where you end up.
It has to be a really simple error.
What if the piston was pushed in unevenly?
pull the rear rotors back off and retrace yourself
I guess maybe if it got wedged in there somehow, on all 4 sides I’ve never heard of that personally…How did you push it back in?
Ok now I’ve got the EXACT same problem except I only changed out the seized and dead rear calipers/pads on my '90 LS…watched TheCarGuy do it to a '93 DA with the exact same Eclipse brand calipers from napa…mid grade pads(front pads going on tomorrow) did NOT bleed them correctly…just read my first thread to know how. And tomorrow all calipers will be bleed but I have the same issue…a little pressure at the pedal but it still goes to the floor w/o ANY stopping power at all and NO e-brake at all. And yes it’s hooked up correctly with the cotter pin and the mount for it is bolted down tight…not bent either.
Now before I changed the rear calipers/pads I had decent (45-50%) or so braking power with just the front brakes and of course the e-brake barely worked and now after the change(without a proper bleed) No stopping power other than jamming it in reverse:squint: Also it was like this long before the brake pedal was pushed all the way to the floor since like i said I did have pressure at one point and lost it but tomorrow I’m checking the master, doing a triple-check on the rear calipers/pads, pads on the front and bleed all of 'em one at a time. And just curious…since I can’t buy new anti-seize with the DA on stands…but anyone ever tried just the tiniest(THIN) coat of Liquid Wrench where the pads slide?

NOTE: Had pressure in the pedal before I started driving it* gone as soon as I pulled outta the garage
