new struts and coilovers

Okay I was told it is basically okay to slam your car with new struts and coilovers I just feel like that’s not true help? Please lol

Well, what do you want in a car? Function or form?

Form, like everyone else.

I dont see a real question here. The only reason anyone wants to slam their car is to relieve their car of most of its driving ability. Which means function <form. Since youre asking, im guessing this is what you want to do.

The answer to your “question” is yes. If youre going for pure form then go ahead and slam your car on whatever. Cut springs, coilovers, or even different sizes of wood. It doesn’t matter when all that matters is form and you wanna throw function out the window.

Props for thinking twice about it and asking, but first the best thing we can tell you is that its YOUR car. Everyone has an opinion about slamming cars and asking if its “okay” will create a world war III :gunright: There are 3 different ways to properly lower your car

  1. Shock/Lowering Spring Combo. This way is perfectly fine for the budget builder looking for a slight change in handling. Although you will be virtually stuck with one ride height which can either be good or bad for some people. (virtually because you can also cut them but just don’t.)

2.Shock/Sleeve Combo. Now this is a total hit or miss. You will hear about and see numerous setups like these. The most popular for our Chassis is the Ground Control/Koni Yellow Combo with ground control extended tophats. If you have the money for it go for it. Tons of R&D behind it and track proven, also they can go very low. But again, preference. Whatever you do do not buy ebay $60 “coilovers” why? just don’t.

  1. Full Body Coilovers. Again preference and tons of choices.

We can sit here and chat all day about suspension but it all comes down to what you want to do. I hope I was SOME help for ya.

Keep reading man, you came to the right forum and a lot of people here are very helpful for the most part.

For me personally, I went with the coilover setup. It gives you the best of both words. You can change the ride height come winter time and lower it again in the summer and with the adjustable shocks you can also soften or stiffen your ride. I chose Tokico Illumina’s cause you can get the lifetime warrenty like Koni’s, have up to 5 ways for dampening which is really all you basically need to run a street/dd setup and they are $200 cheaper give or take depending where and who sells them to you. The GC’s offer amazing ride quality and they even offer custom spring rates. For that combo, taxes in (not including labour) I was just under a G note. Best bang for your buck in my opinion.:rockon:

I got skunk 2 struts amd gc coils I slammed it for now till I get more suspension stuff and wheels then I wanna start adjusting everything for street/track it’ll basically be my dd and rarely see a track but I still wanna doit and learn
