NEWB Starting problems

I picked up a fully loaded 92 with working everything for 400.00

To start it some times it starts normal, other times I have to pump the clutch pedal in a out a few time and then it starts. Sometimes I have to pump the clutch pedal and the turn the key on and off a few times. then It begrudingly starts. What could the be cause of this? Please let me know ASAP as the car is for sale again.

I am new to the DA but not to honda’s. I am a member of cb7tuner.com

Could be any number of things…

Pump clutch to start, check “Clutch Interlock Switch”

Turn ign, on and off to start, check ign, switch, a bad ign. switch is a common problem on a G2.

Pump clutch and turn ign. switch on and off, check starter relay.

Assuming you mean engine will not turn over when you say it will not start, next time is will not start do a bypass jump, using a scrap piece of wire with one end connected to the batt. pos.(+) terminal, touch the other end to the solenoid terminal on the starter motor, [thinner lead that unplugs] MAKE SURE CAR IS NOT IN GEAR, engine will crank even if ign. switch is off.

If engine cranks, [starts when ign. switch is on] the problem is not the solenoid or the starter motor, make sure the solenoid lead is tight when you plug it back in again.:corn:94

Damn FCM is there anything you dont know about cars and car electronics?

im thinking of moving to Kelowna just to be closer to you. :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks for always helping us poor schmucks out…not sure where we’ed be without you.

Oh right, probably stalled in the dark somewhere.

:iagree:

props to our friend FCM !

FCM… WOW. thanks, that’s exactly my problem. i have to also pump the clutch and turn my key hard in order for my teg to start.

I will check the ignition switch today but, i just don’t know where the Clutch interlock switch is.

any one? THANKS

hey guys so i figured out that it wasn’t my ignition switch.

In order for my car to turn on I actually have to push in my clutch all the way in. When i say all the way in I mean all the way in, as if i was doing my girl and she says harder, and i push push and push. Its funny how i sometimes compare my girl to my car. Love them but gosh. so complicated at times.

any who. hope this helps to anyone that has to pump their clutch in order to start their tegs. Try pushing the clutch in all the way. I have to do it with some strength. But this doesn’t apply when i’m driving normally and shifting gears, only to start my baby.

hope this helps some one.
