NIGHTSHADE black out head or tail lights on g2???

anyone black out or tint their lights i really wanna see how it looks

I tried it on my 93 taillights and taped off the reverse portion. It looked alright, but it’s hard to beat cleaned out 90-91 tails which I currently use.

If you decide to do it make sure you spray light even coats and move the spray past the lights before adjusting the direction the can is moving in, this stuff can be tricky and if you don’t do it just right you get a dull uneven coating.

I also suggest using a rubbing/polishing compound several hours after it has dried to really bring out the shine, but don’t overdo it or you will rub the finish off entirely. Make sure you put a clear coat on afterwords, too.

This is the only decent picture I have of my old taillights. Yes, I know my hatch wasn’t closed all the way. With the flash of the camera the lights look a very dark cherry red, but in daylight they are gloss black and you can see the cherry red sheen from certain angles or off the reflectors. You could probably black out some cheap altezzas and skip the reddish hues if you don’t like them, but it’s kinda what I was going for.

And do NOT try to use this on your headlights. It will decrease your light output. With tint on lights on your car (not including headlights) use just enough to ensure that you can still identify the lights from ~1000ft away. Why? Cause it’s the law.

I used nightshade on my first DB1’s tail lights… I thought it looked pretty good, Several people didnt like it. A nice chunk of it came off with a pressure washer at the car wash so i took it off. :owned:

I didn’t have that problem with mine, I prepped the shit out of the surface. When I put the 90-91s on I removed the tint from my old lights to store them, and it was a real pain in the ass for me to remove it all. I spent 3 hours rubbing it off. I guess being thorough bit me in the ass.

3 coats is the max they say.
With 2 coats it’s got a really nice smoked look to it.

yeah i was thinking about 1 or 2 coats. anyone got some Halo heads i wanna see some night pictures and day picture witht he black housing on a red teg

Search for the protectors. I personally think the jdm 1 pieces are the cleanest.

I may or may not be working on smoked tails and turns for my car for next season. So I may or make not be able to confirm that 2 coats will give you the PERFECT smoked look.

The Halo’s give off horrible light output and the nipple for the fog lights look like crap.

If you WANT black headights get the non projector Halo’s and put a 9004 HID kit in it, I got pretty good output out of them…

i just wanna see how they look.

i was planning on keeping my 3pc and get HID’s and get yellow fog light’s not the bulb but like the whole light thingy ya know XD

You can’t just get that.

You need to paint your stock one.

Also HIDs in a stock halogen housing are horrible and down right dangerous.
Sure the HIDs in my 1 pieces look cool but I can’t see shit and there’s all kinds of glare all over the road, wish I had never done it.

Either do a proper HID retro fit or just get some good bulbs.

Agree’d to an extent.

When I had the EbayDM headlights, Halogen bulbs SUCK in them… (Well they just suck in general). So i got HIDs, I could see pretty well, But it wasn’t a clean output. It was all over the place… Fortunately with the 9004 HID’s it never blinded anyone but it just looked sloppy. So i tried 9007… And blinded a cop.

So moral of the story, If you just put basic HID kits in housings built for Halogen, it’s not going to be clean… It’ll either blind other drivers or make your light output very sloppy. I’ve seen HID’s in USDM 3 piece and JDM 1 piece, With USDM it was sloppy aswell as blinding, With JDM it was just blinding. I did see some place sells little cap things that cover half the bulb to clean up the light output (If you noticed complexed lens [non projector] HID’d cars’ headlights only light up half the headlight… Like my 03 TL).
