The vents on the dashboard, right underneath the windshield, no air is coming out. How do I fix this? It costs 70 bucks just for a mechanic to find out what the problem is. It’s a drag driving at night with fogged up windshields.
Help!

Check if the indicator light on the heater control panel lights up when you push the button for the winsheild vent. if not, than your switch is probably defective. If it does ligt up, than your control valves for your vent (What directs the air up to your windshield) are bad somewhere.

the indicator light does not light up when i push both the windshield vent buttons. Will I be able to fix this problem myself?

Well, If it’s just the switch (I haven’t actualy done this) I can’t immagine it being that dificult to replace. I recomend going to this web site and looking up the replacement heater control panel. They will shosw you a blown out picture of your unit and maybe it will show how to remove it. Also the most valuable thing you can ever get for your car is the Haynes manual. You can go to any autoparts store and pick one up. Good luck
Try holding your defrost button for a sec, and maybe push a little harder on it. OR try switching to something else and THEN to def. I know it sounds weird, but mine’s like that if I want to go to the face/foot vents – I can’t get to it from def/foot, so I have to hit another button and THEN the face/foot button. :\
oh yeah, and if it is the button, check Teg Tips – there are instructions for re-soldering the connections so the buttons and lights work!
