Yesterday I drove from my house out to my nephews graduation which was about 10-15 miles away. I had the a/c on high the whole time and all was fine. My car was parked in the sun for about an hour max. When I came back out to drive home I turned the car on and then went to turn the air control knob from off to high. The knob felt weird as soon as I starting trying to move it, as if it had a lot of resistance. When I moved it to any of the on positions I had no a/c, air, heat or anything. I assumed my blower motor decided to stop working and let me sweat. After waiting for about 15 minutes I tryed it again and this time it worked on all the settings except for high. As soon as I turn it to high it shuts off. It does this whether the a/c is on or not. I don’t know if all of a sudden it got a short in it or the knob got messed up by sitting in the sun for too long or what. Any ideas guys? Thanks
I’d blame it on the control knob…
the blower motor gets power from the same source but it’s put through a resistor pack for the slower speeds (high is just streight 12v) I can almost bet somethings up with your fan control knob…
Damn. That means I gotta take the dash all a part again. I hate doing that. I wanna know what would cause it to act up like that though. Cause it was working fine and then all of a sudden it does that
Happened to mine they are old cars ya know??
I went ahead and checked the resistor, its not that. Swapped it to my db and it worked fine in that car.
