No brake lights!...urgent

I just got my car back from the body shop… got a new ignition put in. Now my brake lights, horn, and cruise control don’t work!!! I’m gonna get rear ended soon if this doesn’t get fixed. Also, (auto trans) the gear shifter moves into anything (N, D, S, 2) w/o the key in the ignition (it is supposed to remain locked until the car is started and my foot is on the brake). I need help on these things… quick!

Yup, your shifter should lock and you are suppose to have a key to move it. As for your lights problem, I don’t know what to say but to use your hands for now. Stick your arm out when you drive and use hand signals. Just a suggestion. Good luck.

only problem with using hand signals is the fact that these days just about anyone can get a license (iowa’s DOT has tests in foreign languages if you can’t read english…which happens to be what all our road signs are printed in. go figure.), and i’d venture a guess that AT LEAST 80% of the drivers on the roads these days have NO idea what hand signals mean.

take the car back to the shop, assuming everything worked before you took it in. there’s obviously something THEY did wrong, and it’s up to THEM to make it right. if you need any pointers on going bonkers and making a scene in front of other customers, feel free to give me a shout. i’ll be glad to help out in that arena. :stuck_out_tongue:

Check your horn fuse under your hood, I had the same problem happen to me and my horn and my brake lights didn’t work but after I changed it was fine.
