No Name $140 Header??

http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=90583

Someone is selling no name/brandless headers for $140 + $20 shipping. They are brand new and he says that they are DC “style” 4-2-1 headers… I have a stock GSR Header on my LS/Vtec and I need an affordable header. Does this one look safe? Thanks in Advance.

Would you swap a $250 Yugo engine into your car? This sounds to be about the same quality. I wouldn’t expect much from the header that this guy is selling, you will most likely loose performance by adding it. I’d save your money for something that is a bit more proven.

well I’ not one to care for quality so I’m thinking on it…The one guy on Hondatech said he really liked it and it increased lots of power my big question is does it come with oblts, gaskets etc…? I wanna know if so I will probably be a guinea pig for you all  hey if I screw up I look stupid but if it’s great well…you know

It comes with a gasket and you use your stock bolts. Let me know if you pick it up!

They’re located here in Montreal. The reason why it’s cheap is because the manufacturer is also located here. I’ve personally have never seen it but their shop is all about performance parts for an affordable price (i.e. they don’t deal with brand name parts like DC, Neuspeed, and stuff like that).

Oz, do they have a shop in Montreal there? What’s the name?

I believe the manufacturer is Tom Motorsports. http://www.tommotorsports.com located just outside downtown Montreal. They sell to the public but I don’t know for how much they sell the stuff for. The guy selling the $140 headers works for Xtreme Performance located just west of downtown Montreal.

Are those the ones I keep seeing on Ebay for like $100?? My bro actually bought one for his civic and they look pretty sharp… no blemishes or bad welding on the outside… don’t know how long they’ll last though…

Price reflects the quality of the product most of the time. For $140, you have to question the thickness and the material being used on the header pipes. Look at the bends too. Some are bent like it was done at the muffler shop. You don’t want creases like that when your looking for a performance header. The degree of the bends, the number of bends affect the flow of the header. Yes, it probably will be better than your stock exhaust manifold. But howmuch better? how is the coating on the product itself, is I a quality ceramic coating or just some dipped on chrome or just even some silver spray paint on it?
For $140 how much R&D has been put into it? At $140 retail, they must have to make it at least less than half of what they sell it.
How is the fit? will it directly bolt on? Warranty?
Ask these questions when buying items that sound good … but maybe too good to be true. Good luck to all you guys…
