Here we go again…
A little backstory, my car got stolen around Labor Day and was found with a broken shaved key in the ignition, which was pretty much destroyed. I pulled out the ignition key cylinder and used the ignition switch to drive the car home from impound. After parking it at home and removing the battery (anyone could just take the car at this point) I checked for any other damage and didn’t find much other than broken interior panels etc. I tried to go out a few days later and the car does not respond to turning the switch to accessory, on, or start. I checked contacts, wires around the steering column, and the ignition fuse. Battery was connected. Everything not requiring a key works.
I bought a new ignition switch/cable harness and key cylinder… installed it today and the car gave me the warning that I had left my key inside, so I kinda got excited as it wasn’t doing that before, and went to start the car and… nothing. Absolutely ignoring the new key and company. The key turns just fine, just no activity resulting from it.
My registration is due in 3 weeks and I don’t really want to pay if I can’t get the car to work and may just part it out.
Any ideas? Thanks.
