car died yesterday, after pushing it out of a crazy busy intersection I tried to start it a few more times and nothing.
I removed the cap and found the rotor had worked itself lose, self destructed and destroyed one of the springy pickups on the cap where it makes contact with the coil.
so here I am thinking no problem ill get a new cap and rotor and all will be fine.
well it wasn’t, I installed a new rotor and a used cap and still no spark.
Is there anything else I can check before a buy a whole new distributor?
You evidently don’t have voltage going to the distributor. Try posting in the Electrical section for what fuses, switches and relays might be faulty. You sure the injectors are firing?
This happened to me as well bra. I replaced the cap also, and come to find out that the button was working its self loose. Check and see if your button screw is nice and tight no movent like wiggly or loose, also if you check everything out and still no sparkn or no crankn and takes a while to ignite change your modulator it is the big part that sits in the middle. Good luck and have fun bra.
