So I have a 91 Acura Integra. I have a noise in my passenger rear I think it is. When I go over a bump I hear almost like a clunking noise. Almost like something is rattling. I have changed the struts with ones from my buddy’s car and the noise was still there. Any ideas?
This is probably not it, but I had a bad rattle in my rear suspension that only presented itself at bumps and crappy roads. Turned out I bent the brake dust shield (I don’t know exactly what it is called). Unbent it and the problem went away.
If there’s a thump or clunk in the rear when you go over a bump, it’s most likely your rear trailing arm bushings.
Jack up the rear, remove the tires and inspect the RTA bushings for any noticeable cracks.

Good call man! I am thinking that might be it. That bushing is shot. Would that bad RTA bushing cause it to clunk?
yes it would. you should also look for other worn bushings you might want to replace while your down there.
Thanks man. Yea my trailing arm bushing is shot. Must be the original one. I am looking at getting the red Energy Suspension trailing arm bushings for it. I will probably order them today.
Research the Mugen RTA bushings… from my understanding they are better than the ES replacement stuff.
Or you can just go with OEM and save yourself the trouble of taking off the trailing arm completely to burn out the old bushing since you’ll need to leave in the outer ring for the Mugen bushings to work.
With the right RTA removal tool, replacing the RTA bushing with OEM is a snap.

if you have a kragen or oreillys in your area, they may have the tool for removing bushings for rent. I know for a fact one in my area rents it out.
Kragens do rent them out but most of them have the older unrevised version which only applies to DC’s. The revised version has an adapter plate that fits our DA’s RTA bushing. Make sure you ask them if they have the newer version with the adapter.
Sounds like your in the same boat I’m in. I have the ES bushings for mine that will be going in mine.
