Noob from Miami Florida intro, 1991 LS!

whats up fellas,

quick intro, my name Yohan, live in miami lakes, work for lexus. My other car a IS350 but so far I am always driving the teggy!!!

Well after months being after a project DA I finally found one :hyper:

here is my baby

the 2IS

First things first, I dont know JACK about these cars but have always wanted to. I hope you guys dont mind helping a noob out!

There is lots of information on the site for you. Good luck with the build.

What are your plans for the car?

thanks v-tecpwr,

honestly man first thing I would like to do before any aesthetics, is ask you guys’ advice on what should be mechanically inspected/replaced ??? I am at 128K miles… owner said they are original miles (anyway to verify?)

I have an appointment to get my valves adjusted this monday, ordered new head gasket seal to replace while there too… I am trying to get information on what step I should look into next…

My plans for the car are not to go all out, just want to make it run great (runs ok now) and get it painted, lowered and some wheels, one piece and maybe e/i/h… thats it… for now

Hell yes! Another LS '91 noob! Just got mine too, love this car! Still waiting on funds to tear into mine but these are great cars and there is a lot of info on this site. Hit up the teggy tips. A lot of good info there. Good luck and keep everyone posted

Ahhh.I work in Miami lakes.in front of the johnson and Johnson building.ring a bell?

if theres nothing wrong with the head gasket i would’nt replace it. Buy all sensors from the dealer. i would honestly buy everything for the dealer. make sure you dont have a cowl leak. When those random rain storms come, they come in handy so your passenger floor does not get flooded.

I personally prefer DA’s with hids. because with stock bulbs its hard for me to see without driving with the foglights on. And sometimes i dont want them on.

woo that thing looks minty original, great find… i would start with finding authentic 1-piece headlights (not the egay knockoffs), then susp + wheels… if you really want you can look into swapping the front & rear bumpers with 92-93 bumpers (92-93s had a face lift) and swapping the tail lights with 92-93 lights (amber signals vs pink) but i personally prefer the 90-91s, more of an oldschool look

yeah every DA i’ve owned had the cowl leak… little rubber seals under the cowl on the pasenger side always go out and water seeps in and drips through the blower…

as for the stock bulbs, on the JDM 1-pieces they are more than plenty but on the USDM 3 piece the light output is pretty shitty, but having yellow fogs looks so good anyway i don’t mind driving with them on at all times

hmmm… the building doesnt ring a bell but good to know I have some locals!

I was told to replace head gasket seal, because the car currently has the cheap red one, is this true?
They said those are crappy seals and rather replace it with OEM.

While I am here, hope you dont mind me asking what sensors you think I should replace? thanks man

Thanks, interior is the real surprise, very well kept. I got original radio lol

I am in the search for one piece headlights as we speak, any ideas where to look?
YES, finally!!! My car DOES have a leek when it rains… looks like it seeps in from where the seatbelt track is on both sides, so I see its called the “cowl leak”… any tips on how to take care of this problem?

sorry for the million questions guys but I really appreciate all the knowledge being provided!

nice start you have…

and that new GS300…FTMFW!!! my boy showed me pics of one from his lot the other day

Mainstreet?

haha how’d u know?

I work down the street from there.I get out of work at 3 so you’ll always see me go down 57 and hop on the palmetto to sunny isle LOL.local talk lol

haha nice, we should meet up one of these days, mondays I am off,

there is a sick 240 in my area, surprised ive never seen you

As far as stuff to replace,i would definetly look into the ES(energy suspension)($150) full bushing kit.i just got mine put in a couple days ago and its a night and day difference.the cowl leak problem can be solved by going into the teg tips and follow the intructions.I also would do the standard plug, wires and cap.Good start man looking forward to seeing where you take the teg.Welcome.

Probably every suspension bushing you can think of haha. If never replaced, there is a good chance most of them are bad. Motor mounts too.
