Noobie ECU question

I am a complete noob when it comes to ECU’s so bear with me. I have a 1990 GS, and I want more power. When it comes to reprogramming, chipping, changing I am completely lost. What is the most cost effective thing I can do?

If you’re looking for power, the ECU is the last thing that you should touch. Only highly modified engines will benefit from ECU tuning. Those “performance chips” on ebay do nothing but make your car run rich and remove the rev limit (or set it higher). A bone stock motor (or even one with boltons) will not benefit from more fuel and reving higher.

If it’s power you’re looking for, start with bolt ons first and work your way up from there as you gain more knowledge.

go right in and swap in a b18c1. =)
