NRG short hub + quick release + lock

Bought this Nrg setup from some dude off another honda forum. Came off a DC integra. Still pretty new and purchased for $180.

I bought my db2 3 months ago with a momo wheel and momo hub. The hardest part of the removal was the 19mm nut on the spline. To remove I did this:

  1. Take off the center piece of your wheel but leave the wheel on as something to apply torque to.
  2. With a cotton swab douse it with liquid wrench or maybe some wd-40 and try to get some on the threads of that nut.
  3. The 6 inch ratchet was too short for me. I had to use an 18 inch breaker bar.

Tools required:
star wrench, the one thats like an allen wrench but the corners are pointed a bit.
An allen wrench, i forget the size.
19mm socket with an extension and maybe a breaker bar.

Before you park, run the car up and down a few yards to make sure the car is straight, cause it’s hard to align the new hub on exactly the right spline.

This is what I saw after removing that 19m nut. Old hub is attached by a wire for the positive horn circuit.

Here is how the nrg setup looks. The DC integra hub has this gap from the steering column to the white ring that the old momo did not have.

My 30 watt soldering iron was too weak to solder that red wire to the brass back plate, so I just cut it down to an inch and stripped the tip. I splayed the strands so that they would contact the brass plate upon installation.

I have a 5 foot 7 frame, and I highly recommend the short hub over the momo hub. The nrg hardware brings the wheel at most 1 cm closer to the driver. I can still reach the turn signals with my hand on the wheel…barely.

good pics, you can also use your lug wrench to get that 19mm nut out. A little easier if you ask me.

The nrg lock uses this loose ball bearing. I kept losing it, so I just taped it in its hole with a large square of masking tape. Anybody know of a better way to handle that ball?
