O2 Sensor Wont Come Off

My damn O2 sensor is like stuck to my manifold. I borrowed the tool from auto zone to get it off but it still wont budge. What else can I use or what else can I do…:argh:

hit it with WD40 or some other type of penitrating oil. let it sit for 15-20minutes and try again. use a longer handled wrench for more leverage. It will be on tight. Rember more that likely it’s been on there for over 10 years, HOT - cold - Hot -cold, and all the rust, you will just have to put some a$$ into it.

Just did my O2 sensor and 2ndJenn is dead on. What I did with the help of a friend was attach a 3 foot pole on the end of my socket wrench handle and moved it slowly til it came off. Make sure you put antiseize compound on the threads when you put the new one on too.

When I changed mine,I got sick of it, so I took the manifold off and just cut the wire so I could use the regular socket. I had to use a tap because almost all of the threads from the sensor sheared off in the manifold.

yup, be careful… I had this exact same problem, the sensor refused to move. I jumped on it with a long breaker bar… I was able to remove the sensor, but the threads of the manifold came out with the sensor leaving a nice threadless hole in the manifold… :gun2: Had to replace the manifold, $400CDN at the dealer, I bought a chikara torque-step header instead for $350CDN…

Thanks to everyone who tried to help m poor soul but phuck it. I tried everything you all said and guess what happened. I stripped the damn O2 sensor. But theres some good news out this ordeal. I found out that I have my air/fuel gauge wire hooked up to the wrong wire obviously, Because my O2 wire had came apart and my a/f gauge was still reading the way it was. now i need help figuring out which wire is the right one.

let your car run for like ten min. then try taking it out if all else fails put some heat on it. if you have a bosch o2 its the black wire for the a/f guage.
