OBD0 to OBD1 Conversion Basics (obd-0 obd-1)

bring this back again. What distributor do you suggest to use and what should it look like. I have an odb0 b16 swap with an ebay distributor (swap didn’t come with one) and want to go obd1. I already have all the harness’s and ecu just wasn’t sure what distributor to use, I found the delsol distributors but there are two of them.

1.

2.
(notice the placement of the mount tabs)
The distributor on the motor looks like the second one. But with that being said i can not be 100 percent sure that the distributor on the motor is correct. It runs the car but has to be fully advanced, im not sure if it has anything to do with the fact that im still on an ls ecu for now or not. Amy input would be greatly appreciated.

You can use ANY OBD1 B-Series Vtec distributor - fitment is exactly the same for all of them. So, that means you can use a dist off of any of the following cars:

  • 92-93 Integra GSR
  • 92-95 Del Sol (b16a equipped)
  • 94-95 Integra GSR

Where did you get those pictures from? Are these “stock” photos from a website or something? If so, you can’t always trust the picture online to match the product. Photo #1 does not look like a b series vtec dist. Photo #2 does look like a b series vtec dist. If you’re looking for Del sol parts then maybe you’re seeing one distributor for the D-series engine and one for the B series engine. You should only be looking at the B16a equipped Del Sol. Or, to make things even easier on yourself just look up all your parts for a 92-93 GSR. (b17a is basically a stroked b16a). Also, you may see the code “TD-44U” on the distributor. That is the correct one. There may be ones w/ other numbers which also work, but that number is for sure correct.

Straight off advance auto parts website. I went in to the store and they pulled up both distributors. And the top one is a 42u bottem is a 44u.

Any way you slice it, as Colin said, you want a TD-44 distributor… ANY OBD1 Vtec B-Series distributor will work.

If Advanced is showing you two distributors and the ‘legs’ don’t match, they’re either showing you a non-vtec b-series, or a d-series distributor because all OBD1 vtec distributors use the same bolt pattern.

Just get the OBD1 TD-44 and call it a day.

Thanks man! Good info I will post pics of swap after she is running!
