OBD1 conversion in a 91 integra, help and advice needed!!

Hey guys, so i recently purchased a 92 obd1 integra and i want to swap the engine harness in to my 91 integra which is OBD0.
my question is, Can it be done?? keep in mind, i have the whole engine harness and dash harness, ecu, distributor, everything.
Finally, what else will i need to make this work? thanks in advance.

I believe it can be done, just takes a lot of work/time pulling everything out. My guess is just label everything take lots of pictures and take a couple advil.

What are you trying to accomplish? There’s no benefit to swapping the engine harness and swapping the engine harness isn’t straight forward. If you’re just trying to convert the 91 to OBD1 then that’s a different story, it’s pretty easy but it does not involve using the OBD1 engine harness. Let us know what your goal is here, why you’re trying to swap the harness and what result you’re looking for and we’ll likely be able to point you in the right direction.

Hey thanks for the feed back . So yes I do want to convert to obd1, I’m planning to go b20vtec and I feel like it would be easier to better tune the car of its obd1, more potential in other words, you don’t really find people that can tune obd0 especially where I live

If your goal is to convert to OBD1 then you’ll re-use all of your original OBD0 wiring and just modify it to work with the new OBD1 components as needed. Swapping the wiring is a waste of time (a LOT of time).

Do some google searching, this is a really really common swap now and there are pages and pages and pages of documentation online. Do your research then come back if you have questions about the specifics. I wrote up this article a decade ago and it’s all still relevant although there are more options out there now for conversion harnesses and such.

Colin being from California do you know if doing the conversion this way can be smogged through the referee? I have heard that you have to convert all the wiring, not just use a jumper harness, not sure if that is true. I am having trouble nailing down an answer through my research

Things may have changed since I was researching this a decade ago but you should be able to just use the conversion harnesses instead of changing the wiring. This could vary from Ref to Ref from what I understand but typically the understanding is that you’re OK if everything functions as it should. So if you need to use adapters, cut/solder…etc that’s OK as long as ALL components are there and functioning properly.

TONS of people have BAR’d their cars using conversion harnesses, but with how inconsistently the the rules can be interpreted or enforced its hard to say that 100% you’ll be OK. I would suggest calling your local BAR office and talk to the Ref, he should be able to help you figure out what you need and what he’ll be looking for. If he isn’t helpful then look for another BAR office who will help.

Thank you helpful as always! I did give them a call a while back and sadly they never returned my call. I am still hoping to get that GSR next week but if not things will get interesting…
