Sorry if this is a dumb question but I need to order my longblock as soon as possible andI’m not sure which one to get. The place I’m ordering it from has a B18B 95’ with 44K and a B18B 97’ with 30K for the same price. The guy was asking me questions I dont know (I’m having a friend put it in so I dont know much) so I’m not sure which one to go with. All I know is he was talking about the pcv valve and rigging up a catch can or something.
The motor is going into a 90’ DA and I will be staying OBD-0 so I plan on using my stock intake and exhaust manifolds, ECU, and my stock distributor. But wanted to use the alt. off the newer motor since mine is old. Would the installation process be the same for the OBD2 as it would the OBD1? Or would it be different among these 2 motors? I would like to get the OBD2 since it newer with less miles but the person doing my swap is expecting it to be a OBD1 motor. Basically, if staying OBD0 would the install of these motors be the same or will the OBD2 motor be different?
I know a OBD1 alternator will work for OBD0, but is a OBD2 alternater the same too? Let me know guys, I needed to order the motor today but since I’m not sure which one to get I have to wait until I know. Thanks.
Anyone? I was supposed to order my motor yesterday and cant talk to my buddy who is doing the install because he is gone on vacation. I’m just wondering if the installation process (when staying OBD0) is the same for a 94-95 motor as it is for a 96+ motor. Since my friend was expecting me to get the OBD1 motor I dont want to go ahead and get the OBD2 version if it requires more work for him to put in.
I’m especially wondering about the PCV. If I use my stock B18A intake manifold with the 96+ motor how would this be hooked up? Would it be done differenty than with the 94-95 B18B?
If I got the OBD2 swap what would need to be done differently? Its a newer motor with less miles for the same price, so I would like to get that one if possible. Just wondering what the actual diffrences would be when staying OBD0 between the OBD1 and OBD2 swap.
Come on guys, some has to know. Can someone atleast tell me the differences in the pcv systems between the obd1 B18B and obd2 B18B motor? And how I would hook it up when using my stock B18A intake manifold?
So what, is the unchartered territory? Has no one ever swapped a OBD2 motor in a 90-91 car and stayed non-OBD while using the 90-91 intake manifold too?
Come on, its a easy question for someone who has done it before. I just cant find my answer from searching. Ive had to hold off on ordering my motor for like a week already, SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME ALREADY!!!
get the motor with less miles. the obd2 motors dont have a breather box on the back of the block while obd0 and obd1 motors do. use the g3 ls intake manifold and throttle body, the g2 im and tb is garbage. you can still keep it obd0 and run your stock injectors, distributor, ecu and even harness.
