OBD2 in an OBD1

Could an OBD2 motor drop into an OBD1 93 integra easily? If not, what changes need to be done?

u just need to convert everything to obd1 or everything to obd2.

n what are those things…?

you need either to either use your stock distributor or buy the adaptor to use the obd2 distributor. you will need to either extend your map sensor wiring to the throttle body or use the stock g2 map sensor. you need to use your stock harness and alternator too. if the motor is an ls you are swapping in you can just use the stock obd1 ls ecu, otherwise you will probably want to get a chipped p28. vtec motors also require you to wire up vtec(1 wire atleast). if you are swapping a gsr motor in get an afterarket intake manifold.
you have to use the stock g2 mounts, axles and tranny unless you want to do a hydro conversion.

so I just need to change my Intake manifold if i do OBD2 GSR swap? and it’ll still be OBD1?

no sir u need an obd1 gsr ecu or like he said a chipped p28 to run the vtec, and a obd1 gsr distributor or just hack the leg off ur ls one and i just went brain dead…

oh yeah and dont try to run ur pr4 on that gsr motor…

Oh, I thought it was more complicated then that. Thanks for the input guys. So it don’t matter if I used a 96+ GSR motor as long as I use the OBD1 p72 or chipped p28, obd1 vtec distributor, gsr intake manifold and the rest of the parts can be used from my junk LS motor?

in my opinion the best way to do the swap is to buy the complete gsr motor, install an aebs intake manifold, oem gsr tb, itr throttle cable bracket, oem g2 ls throttle cable, msd obd2 to obd1 distributor adaptor, one wire vtec using a chipped p28, ys1 gsr or b16 tranny, and the oem ls harness. everything not mentioned use stock g2 ls parts. don’t cheap out with ls ecu’s and cut up distributors. i wouldn’t bother upgrading much either, traction bars, stiffer mounts, 8lb or lighter flywheel with oem clutch, tri-y header, test pipe, and midpipe on stock axleback or rsr exmag at most. simple is good.

But if I find an OBD1 GSR motor, I don’t have much to do right?

pretty much drop in and plug up as long as u also have obd1 gsr wiring harness if u want it to be as simple as possible.

You cant use the obd1 gsr harness… it is pretty much plug and play tho. The only difference between an obd1 b18c and an obd2 b18c is the distributor connector and the obd2 has an extra sensor that is left unused. i would find a us b18c1 swap with the least miles possible… then do exactly what i told you to do a couple posts up. lol.

Would LS-Vtec be easier conversion?

way more complicated. you have to build the motor. ahah, if the ls/v is built it is essentially the same swap as a gsr.
