OBX 4-2-1 header installed: pros & cons

I got this header for 127 bucks… 2 piece stainless.

Pros: much lighter than stock manifold/headpipe, great visual appeal, very noticeable gains on midrange and top end. Very thick head flange. Same sized primaries as DC 4-2-1. Good ground clearance.

Cons: headpipe flange angle is uneven with cat flange, but does not leak. Minor loss in low end torque.

To those who are sketchy about buying it, there you go. Keep in mind this is for 92-93, 90-91 may be different. Hope this info helps.

hey luis i saw you today!! i was workin at red rock and you drove by. anyway i just installed a dc 4-2-1 CC, i like it but im wondering if the cheap one does the same thing? oh well it looks dope in there. im glad to see your keeping your car for a while.

wow… 127 for it? nice… hehe… where’d u find this good buy from? was it used/new?

new from Massive Motorsports, a seller on Ebay.

Is it still keeping up? im considering buying the obx header.

no problems with the header so far…

i really dont think obx is a bad company at all. except for maybe a few specific products that people say suck, i give the company a
i just installed their jdm replica clear sidemarkers and theyre great. it was a special order item and they delivered them right on christmas eve.

anyways, with the reviews so far i dont think i would have a problem getting their strut bars or headers.

I now experieced the same problem. The headpipe flange is not even with the cat flange. Now I have to drive to the muffler shop and get it straighten out. I have a custom exhuast setup and highflow cat so its worse. It leaks right where the cat and headpipe flanges are.

I’ve had mine installed for 1 year now and have had no problems at all. Cheap mod and very good gains in mid range. Smooths out the RPM range

I just bought one too, and the sound def. has more balls. Havent had a problem with it yet either, ive heard the welds crack on it but so far i give it

i get a lot of shit from people cause i have mostly name brand shit in my car (Skunk2, DC, ViS, blah blah blah) and then i tell them i have an OBX-R header and they’re like “WTF?!”

i love it and think its a great header, can’t say exacally what i paid for it, but either way i think its a great piece.

looks nice joe, your engine looks very clean, i may buy an obx header after seeing yours, for 130 why not i was holding off on the header casue i plan to eventually go boost as soon as a find a nice eg/ek civic to daily back and forth to work.

damn

i was wondering about this header… i think im getting one now

thanks guys

yea, from what i found the OBX-R header runs about 250-300 bucks. the welds on mine were mint and i loved everything about it.

not sure if the rugular OBX is as good in comparison to the ‘OBX-R’ but i dont see any reason not to buy one

joe

yeah im in the same boat. skunk2, jdm honda, comptech, titan, mugen, k&n, aebs, then i say obx header and i get a funny look. its held up for a year now no issues. welds still in good shape. its a bit tarnished but nothing a little tlc and some high temp heat paint wont cure.
