Have been thinking about the idea of running some type of LSD unit in my car for some time. I do a lot of winter driving and find myself in some strange situations so after some research I decided to buy a Ebay OBX LSD.
On Saturday my bro and I Took a tip from Honda tech on how to field strip the LSD apart I would highly recommend this
Today my brother and I dropped the transmission and began the task of installing it. Took about 8 hours but after we were done I took it out for a test and have nothing but good things to say.
Parked on the side of the road (one wheel on dirt the other on pavement) the new LSD will transfer the power where it should. No more peg leg. just power to the ground .
No weird sounds, install was long but not complicated if you have a good manual.
have had mine on for awhile. did you get the upgraded washers from Rbryant and the bolts? why did it take you 8 hours to do this? you make it seem hard to others that might want to try it. for anyone thinking to install one, watch the jeff evans videos online on installing them. it’s very simple.
No didn’t get the washers or the bolts. intresting.
The the job was easy I guess I just took my time. Funny the dealers would have charged me over 10 hours todo the job. guess I’m fast by their standards. I did take my time. I had the whole day off so my bro and i just took our time.
I don’t remember what tranny you have but, that thread is if you get 90-91 LS gears and not 92-93 for the S1 B16 Cable tranny. if you use 92-93 YS-1 tranny go with 94+ hydro gears.
no, thats not what I’m saying. with the OBX diff. you don’t have to change anything…at least on a LS tranny you don’t, I’m not too sure about the others.
