So I’m doing power window conversion into my RS with my handy diagrams in the Helms manual and no luck, so I searched on here and found a post by FCM. He states how to wire everything up, so I connect all the corresponding wires together to make sure I did it exactaly how he tells, and bingo Works perfect! I played around with it for about 10 mins and it worked perfect the entire time. So feeling satisfied and extremely happy, I crimp all the wires together securely knowing everythings 100%. Then once im done with that, I turn the key on push some switches and…Nothing. I know I spliced everything exactally how I had it while it was working, but now, only the passenger side window works half the time, I got out my handy testlight and checked the #7 & #2 fuses and sometimes they get power from the relay and sometimes they dont, fuse #30 is fine, along with fuse #16, the relay gets power, so I dont know if the relay is on its way out and only works half the time? the driver seatbelt works every now and then aswell. And now it only seems to work when theres a beeping tone as well. FCM HEEEELLLLPPP! please
Check your grounds.
Check the main on/off switch switch on drivers side window switch.
Does the relay turn on. [click] every time you turn on the ign., is the relays ground good?
Not sure I understand the problem with the seat belt, or are they the motorized ones?:hmm: 94
checked the grounds, the ground to the relay is good, but the relay doesnt switch on at all now. I jumped the relay spot with a wire and i can control the driver window with the driver switch, and sometimes the pass window with the passenger side switch. its probably something very easy, but to the life of me i cant figure it out.
As you say it may be a bad relay, or it’s not getting power to the coil when ign. switch is turned on.:stare: 94
i was checking over things today with a testlight again and found that fuse #16 wasnt getting power. So i removed it to see if it was still good, it was. i still had the key switched to ign and all of a sudden i heard a chime that i have yet not heard during the install, so i quickly reinstall the fuse and then the relay started switching on/off/on/off very quickly and for a moment i had power to my drivers window on the driver switch, and then it stopped and nothing again. :wtf:
So i figured out that fuse #16 is the problem, it doesnt get power, so i ran a jumper wire from the ign free pin on the fuse box to #16 slot and everything works fine.
So my new question: where does slot #16 get its power from so i can fix the problem (dont want to use the ign free pin unless i absolutely have to)
Thanks
I believe that fuse slot 16 gets it’s power internally, [inside the fuse box] off the ign. or 2nd ign. buss.
Can’t see why it is not powering up when ign. switch is in run, maybe just a poor connection to the “hot leg”:hmm:94
