I have a shake from 20-30mph in my DB2. It does not occur at any other speed.
The car is lowered and the tires do have some camber wear, but not that much.
I have had all the wheels balanced and rebalanced by 3 different people.
I rotated the tires two days ago. It feels like the shake moved back in the car a bit(less shake in the steering wheel than before), but the car still shakes in that mph range.
The severity of the shake is directly dependent on how hard I am accelerating.
I think it might be a bent wheel. I don’t believe it to be an axle because I have new CV’s and a good condition half shaft(used but it’s in great condition). I even tried the old driver side axle that was on it before the shaking started and it still shook with that axle.
If you have any ideas, I’m more than willing to listen.
Thanks.
when you have the wheels rebalenced are they saying anything about them be unballenced. I would think any reputable business would inform you if they thought the wheel was bent.
I was going to suggest the axel, but youve already checked that one. wheel bearing maybe ???
i had a akward shake not to long ago, i went to get my wheels balanced and they told me they wouldnt even balance my wheels becasue 3 of my tires had “tread seperation”…so you might want to get that checked out if you havent already
If you had the wheel re balanced by 3 different people, maybe they all don’t know how to balance a wheel and or not realizing the wheel is bent or something wrong with it. It sounds like more of an axle problem to me though, if it’s not that it could possibly be the wheel bearing but you say the shaking went to the back a little bit after rotating the tires? What axles do you have? are you lowered? this all matters so please give good detail.
how low is your car? it could be that your axles bearings are grinding from the inner joint.
It does sound like an axle problem. I’ve been through 3 axles already on my driverside since this past year all from autozone. The first one I dislocated on accident. 2nd one shakes. 3rd one was ok for a month until it started to rattle again. but I driven it for a month or two extra. Now I got another I just installed the other day. And it runs good again.
good point matty
if its not the axel its could actually be the half shaft. there is a bearing in there.
being its the drivers side
its your tire or wheel or both. most of the time if its at a certen mph range its that. sometimes tires and wheels get jacked from hittin shiit.
if you want to test your wheel bearings…jack your car up and move the front wheel with your hands if theres movement and its not from your busted tie rod or ball joint suspect wheel bearings. you can test if while driveing also if its makeing noise by turning back and forth if it only makes noise when you turn right its the left bearing visa versa
Another thing that may be the issue is that every time you’ve had them balanced they did regular balancing of the tires. Balancing tires doesn’t always mean they are gonna be ok. The problem could be that one of your tires is oblong or out of round(uncentered hole in tire). They can be balanced but the only way to spot or fix this is to have them do a special kind of balancing called Road Forcing. when a tire is balance it is spun freely without a load that would simulate the road. Road Forcing puts a rolling drum against your tire while balancing to simulate the road.
I’ve had lots of customers come in with the same situation and most of the time you can solve the problem by realigning the tire over the wheel and they will balance each other out.
