oem oil filter?

are there any major chains where i can get a honda oil filter? i want to change my oil today and might get a fram if i cant find a honda filter.

Don’t get the OEM U.S. Honda filter… they’re a piece of CRAP… the OEM JAPAN filters are good, but you’ll never find those cuz they don’t import them here… The U.S. filters ARE NOT THE SAME as the JAPAN filters… don’t be fooled… just save your money and get a Bosch or Mobil-One… the premium Purelator-One brand is good choice too…

BTW… I never bought an O.E.M. Honda filter, and never intend to buy one, so I don’t know how much they cost retail… but an Acura mechanic told me once that they’re not worth S#*t!! They should sell them for $1 (or less) !!

I would use the us honda filter over a fram. I would go with the pure one filter or if you want something cheaper get an stp. I seen a review that showed stp used the same filter material as the jdm honda filter and mobil filter. They didnt mention if the stp had the valve to prevent dry startups though. I dont think it realy matters that much as long as you change it around every 5k.

if you’re doing it right now or very soon, i’d just go pick one up at the dealer. otherwise, you can order some in advance from www.ahmotor.com

tegnuvo, why so much hatred for the honda oil filters? :tsk:

There is debate over which filter is worse… the U.S. Honda or the Canadian Honda filter… the Canadian Honda filter is reportedly using the same internals as the lower end Fram’s.

They’re not crap, per se, but there are off-the-shelf alternatives that will function better and possibly even cheaper.

Hmm, weird, cuz they never taught me anything about oil filter constuction in any of my training. I’ve never seen a Honda/Acura vehicle have problems because of an OEM filter. When you have proof that they aren’t worth “S#*t” please get back to me. Thank You!

Screw Fram and Honda filters, get a bosch. I promise you will love it. That is all I use on my Teggy!!!

wanna get oem honda filters for a good price try:

acuraautomotiveparts.net

or

hondaautomotiveparts.com

If you want to know reviews on different Oil Filters, go here: http://www.ntpog.org/reviews/filters/filters.shtml

I use the K&N Oil Filter because they make good filters for the intake… but they dont have a review on that, anyone know if it’s any good?

yes please explain why usdm oem honda filters are so evil. "What is the deal with oil filters? I mean I don’t know?:stuck_out_tongue: " But anyways- I’ve heard the complete opposite from acura techs and since my conversion I’ve used nothing but honda usdm oil filters for 20,000+ miles now, although as far as something as an oil filter goes I don’t think you’d see damage due to a bad oil filter unless you put a lot of miles on your car and use the same brand filter. If you can also explain the difference betweeen the usdm and the jdm honda oil filters and why those changes makes one better than the other. You seem to have a whole lotta hatred right now but not a whole lotta proof that usdm honda oem filters are the cause of problems with honda engines.

get a mobil one…there the best:rant:

I use Purolator PureOne. Never had a problem. Just remember, what you pay for is usually what you get.

I always use Mobil 1 ($$$) or PureOne oil filters. Never had a problem or complaint about either.
