OEM retro fit time.

So i made a thread about half-assing projectors in the OE headlights,i didn’t have the right stuff to do it right so i didn’t want to cut things up. I did some shopping and came up with everything i needed to do the job right this time around. Everything i got for this setup comes out to about 300 bucks or less, but i only payed a little under 100 bucks. If you would like to get the sellers info,e-mail me at kialeh@hotmail.com.
Ill also be sanding out the flukes as well and using a glass polish to shine them up,Polish link http://search.eastwood.com/search?w=glass+polishing&srccode=mn030170&utm_source=msn&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=NonBr-Autobody. Ill be starting this soon and will be updating this thread as i go. Wish me luck:clap:

The list of parts i got.

2x Factory OEM Kendrion D2S D1S Bi-xenon HID PROJECTORS
BMW E90 Xenon HID Projectors BEZELS SHROUDS TRIMS 3"
6k D1S Xenon HID Bulbs

And a little out of car test

Ok,first thing first,i couldn’t sand the flukes like i wanted,so the output isn’t going to be perfect.

I took the light off the car and used a blow dryer to heat it up,then pulled the glass off.
First i cut the housing for fitting. Hard work i tell you. You got the get the angle just right or its not going to look good at all.

Now to fit it in.

After getting the angle and fitting right,i used some long screw like bolts and nuts to make it snug. Then put the glass back on and seal it all up. To seal it up,i used a strong plastic tape and a blow-dryer to mold it on.

And here is the outcome. This is only one light on,still needs adjusting but you can see the difference.

I’m still not done so ill post more pics tomorrow as i go.

you used grip tape? should fiber glass it

I have some fiberglass and i will be using it. I used the tape as a base for the fiberglass so it didn’t drip in on the projector. Ill take more pics tomorrow to show you.

After playing around and doing a little adjusting,it now looks alot better. I also hooked the motor up for the highs. Now this is only one light.

And a video. Click

And the bay.

that looks pretty clean nice come up on the hids. what lip is that?

Thanks. The lip is the OE 91 with the 93 molded up to it.

you won’t be able to sand down the FLUTES in the headlights because it’s glass. the headlight will crack because it’s too weak. you can only doe it to the JDM one pieces because the lens is plastic.

So I’ve been doing some more reading and i came across some guy that did a retro in his car,he got a drimle tool with a glass cutting disk and cut out the center of the glass lens and installed a piece of clear glass in its place and glued it in place. What do you guys think of this idea? I got everything i need to do this but want some advice first.

thats sound like alot of work. try the ebay 1 piece thats what i got its great

Wish i can,but even if i did get them,i don’t think i would be cutting them seeing they cost so much. Plus,i like the OE look better then the ones. I tested out the cutter on a glass bulb and if you go slow, there shouldn’t be a problem.

you didn’t cover up the side of the projectors, so now you have unnecessary light reflecting off your stock reflector bowl. that’s gonna still give you glare, and it looks weird when your headlights are on. you should of used the shroud. cut and trim the shroud to fit.

you need to waterproof that better, thats gonna get all wet in the rain or when you wash your car. your hi-beam solenoid is exposed, so i see that breaking right when it gets wet. that STRONG tape is not water proof and wont be so strong after 1 to 2 months. should use waterproof tape.

looks ok, but i think you only done it 75% correct, which is way better than your first failed attempted.

you are gonna have to find a glass shop that can mold you a perfect fitting glass cover or its gonna look like garbage, but no offense, it seems like you’re not the type of person that cares about doing it right. it seems like your just getting it done the cheapest and fastest way. and you can’t argue with that because all you been saying was, " i dont have the money," " i got these for only $30." and made a lot of mistakes along the way.

also, after finding a glass shop that is able to mold you a glass cover, the price range is going to be around $80-$120, meaning that it wound cost more than a $100 dollar ebay headlight. i say, get the ebay headlights, it’s cheaper, just the way you like it.

Those ebay ones look really ugly i like this guys approach 10000000x’s better.

Harsh advice, guys. I think it looks alright… Though as said, having the harness exposed like that is bad news…

For the record I couldn’t care less about my lighting… Stock one-pieces with PWJDM bulbs works for me… But props to you for doing an HID retro-fit, a bit more practice and trial/error will have you on the right track.

They make the plastic lens so ill be getting them. And not one time did i say how much i got this stuff,i said i payed a little under 100 bucks. But if you look up on what i got,you will see that it would cost way more then 200 bucks. And i did things the right way this time around, just because i didn’t pay over 200 bucks don’t mean crap. And all wires are properly tucked. And no i didn’t put the coves in cause the shrouds didn’t fit in cause there was no room, but i did sand the OE reflector bowls
Here’s a pic of last night, some cutoff right?

Swhangin and unified112=thanks for all the kind words.
