OEM Stock Intake Vs Short Ram

Hi I have a 92 Integra GS, whats better OEM Intake or a short ram. I know the OEM Intake I get more low end power and better mpg.

OEM= cops cant do anything.

Better for what? What is your main goal you want to achieve with the intake?

Each intake is designed for specific scenarios and builds. Get or use the one you need based upon what you want to do with the car.

there really is no majorrrrr differenceee…the only 2 thingss is probablyy with short ram it sounds nice at high rpms and probably a lil more vaccum but other than thattt it nott gunna maake itt any fasterrr lol

Easy on the caffeineee.

Well its my DD. but when i put on the intake i could barely get 220 miles before the gas light comes on. But i drive all city im barely on the highway.

Soooooo, put the OEM back on if it nets you better gas mileage? If your car is stock (especially with a stock throttlebody) then you arent going to see huge gains with an aftermarket intake.

OEM airbox + K&N Drop In Filter > Many Aftermarket Setups.

It turns out that my OEM intake is cracked by the throttle body and by the largest “side port” (I forget where that vacuum line goes to). It appears to just be as a result of age/dry rot. I’d like to replace it, but given that OEM intake arms are hard to come by in good condition, what are my options? Am I forced to getting a short-ram and T fittings for the vacuum lines? Bah. :dunno:

What year is your car Neil? I’m going to be getting rid of my stock intake(from a 93 GS) in a couple of weeks/months(however long it takes me to get the car to the point where it will pass smog). It’s all yours if you pay for shipping.
Also, I went to my local junkyard this past weekend and there were a couple of DAs there with intake arms still on them. I didn’t check their condition since I wasn’t looking for one, but you may try your local junkyard to see if you can find one.

+1 on going to the local auto wrecker. Also if you haven’t yet, download the Row52 app and set it up so it fires you an email whenever a 90-93 shows up on whatever lot is close.

Yup it’s a bit too cold here for checking the junkyards as of late. If yours is in good condition with no cracks or anything, I’ll gladly give it a new home. Thanks for the offer. It may be something I should just buy multiples of if I see em.

On my old daily before I upgraded my car for family reasons, I had in 2 of my Integra the bolt on Oem k&n filter for the stock air box I seen improvements, a full tune up might help with gas mileage as well
